Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

thank you master - your wisdom led me to this:
this guy didn’t have any prices nor was it anywhere close to its brethren. when i went to check the tools section where this could possibly have come from, i saw there was a newer model! something from master dchomak’s earlier wisdoms clicked in my brain and… see the following post also

i saw a box of these (only 3 inside) tossed into the clearance section with no prices. as the self checkout area was really busy, i did an additional level of check (same as with the above milwaukee torque lock) - i checked the electronics section and sure enough there was a newer version of this guy! so …

rule number whatever of the home depot penny club - if there is a newer version of an item, chances are that the previous version has gone to a penny - master dchomak has alluded to this in one of his many wise sayings.

Thanks. Here’s the LED task lights. They are Hamton Bay.

thanks! ok so they are not the same ones that i found. good to know i can hunt down these also.

You all looking for penny deals should just head over to Lowe’s where they make it easy! (Note: click pics for full size.)

Remember my previously posted pic showing the 100w DC power inverters? Well here is that section yesterday:

Completely gone!

And checkout the date on this yellow clearance sticker!

Look what I found at Dollar Tree!

What’s going on here???
First Garry posts a Lowes penny deal, now you post this

Seriously, that is a heck of a deal. 2 - 150W equivalent CFL’s for a dollar!
If I found those I would buy a bunch, each bulb is 2600 lumen. CFL’s are on ther way out, but you can’t beat the lumen to dollar ratio here. 5200 lumen for a buck, are you kidding me? For certain applications this is a great buy.

Radioshaq, thanks for the kind words. You are really getting the hang of it!
Yesterday I checked those 100W inverters, still $3.83. Found a couple of other penny items though, including another of the chargers with 2 - AA cells. I don’t know where they came from, I had already cleaned the store out, or so I thought. Suddenly one more appeared. :stuck_out_tongue:

stick at it with the 100w inverter; they should be pennying out soon - i got them for a penny here. and the 2AA chargers around here all disappeared when they hit the penny! as soon as you had posted, i went around to collect ones i had seen before - but no luck.

Well the one 100W inverter that was left at my local HD scanned for $8.83 last night. This morning it and the display tag for $27.06 was gone. :frowning:
I will get one eventually.

ironically we recently just got a 150w inverter for $10 at fry’s when we needed one. now this.

YMMV, but I have not been impressed with Sunbeam products from Dollar Tree and the like. I bought a bunch of Sunbeam 95-watt incandescents when they stopped making 100-watts, and they do not last very long. I have also found Sunbeam CR123A batteries for a buck at Dollar Tree or Big Lots but they do not get very good reviews online.

That said, if they work for you, that’s a great deal.

The CFLs are probably generic just like most other CFLs and the quality is no different.
I’ve had very good results from “Sunbeam” batteries; they used to be the best value I could find.

Compared to the CR2032’s from Fasttech, the Sunbeams are pure gold.
I ordered from FT and when I got them I thought they had shorted out during transit. So they sent another batch. Every one dead, both times.

More and more I am relying on local retail

how did they short, did they just dump the cells into a bag??

I think we are getting too comfortable with no name products from chinese websites, the flashlights do well because they are simple and almost every model gets reviewed by a BLFer so we know what works and what to avoid, but the other stuff is plain garbage. Its basically dollar store rejects.

I did manage to rescue one of the 100W inverters yesterday
I also rescued yet another NiMHh charger with 2 cells AND a crimping tool for RG59 coax.

Thanks for the tip There were some others that look just like this but we’re plug in not hardware that were not a penny.

Here are some random discounts I came across that break the usual mold.
48” replace LED tubes for existing florescent fixtures. $5.03 each

Here is a 2C cell MagLite that puts out a REAL 490 Lumen. It looks to me like it has an XM-L2 in it. I don’t know how they can drive it to 490 Lumen with 3V or less

I thought I had shot a pic of the D cell version. It was around 600 Lumen.
Here is why I can’t stop buying the bit sets. The holder with bits can be bought for less than the empty holder!

These have been in the first stage of the markdown at $15.00. Glad to see they are on their way down to the “6” and then possibly the “3”

I am especially proud of this find. The display says $3.88 (much cheaper than the autoparts stores or WalMart)
but they scan for $1.88

How did I know???
They came out at Black Friday at $1.88 and were available thru Christmas, but I was sleeping. To much other stuff and they sold out. For some reason, this store must have just pulled this display off the overhead and they rang up at the BF price.
I missed this deal, 10 cents on the dollar.

Of this bit set there were 2, I bought 1. Like I said………

Another odd one. Tag says $16.00, it scans for $14.00. One to keep an eye on.

I thought for sure I found a penny deal here. Notice way in the back the tool with the Black and Red handle. Not just Red.

I was hoping the Black and Red handle was an older model that would ring up for a penny, but they each have the SAME UPC code.

Good find. See, it can be done.

I see you got that in New Jersey. I need to start looking out for those.
C’Mon, a debit card? :stuck_out_tongue:
Next time use a penny, will ya?
