Official Thread for COMETA Refunding - Problem solving

Hi mate,

I am from Sydney as well, after a bit of back and forth they asked me to return the 2 Cometas I purchased. I said I would be happy to but only if they paid the shipping costs. Came to $53.80AUD for shipping alone.

So I mailed it back to them. When I gave them the tracking number 2 days later they refunded the shipping costs, then a day later they refunded the $110AUD for the 2 torches.

It’s a real shame, if these were built to spec it would have been one of my favorite lights and easily my best zoomie. I’d love Jaxman to be paying attention here, maybe do a run of these properly.

Pictures resized & link fixed. Thank you Budda for the efforts of you & Won. :+1:

edit: Deleted, OP now fixed… both pics & link. :+1:

received the one i ordered.
shorted out with 26650
filed paypal claim
received refund.
light is a shelf queen now

I’m not happy with my light and filed a paypal dispute linked to this thread. I’m not one to do this kind of thing but in this case I believe it is warranted.

G'Day Budda, & wonwuster,

I received 2 Cometa flashlights. One of them never worked, while the other one lit up for a fraction of a second & then never again. No deformed springs. No hot batteries. Bypassing the

switches did not help.

So received 2 DOA Cometa flashlights.

Bangood refunded me 1 month after I contacted them about the DOA Cometa flashlights (they asked for a video). There was no need for a PayPal claim.

It is Very unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to having a Z1 Jaxman quality zoom light with the BLF FET+7135 Driver (as for the BLF X5 & X6v2) & using ToyKeeper's Bistro firmware.

I am still hopeful that this will happen. Otherwise I may have to find the time & ability to mod a stock Jaxman Z1 (or a host), or ask someone to do it for me.

Best Regards,

George

Hey mate do you want me to have a look at your lights? I should be able to fix them?

thank you guys, thank you Teacher but remember to
POST HERE ONLY IF YOU BOUGHT A COMETA
AND POST HERE ONLY STATING

- What’s the problem with the light (for example: mine works fine but it’s not the one I paid for, or: mine was DOA, or: mine was shorted and now doesn’t work, mine have broken lens…)

- what did you ask to BG or Paypal

  • what’s the situation about your claim (got money back, been asked to to this and that but still no money back, been asked to return the light…).

I ask a moderator to delete/move all the OT messages

My Cometa had damage to disk due to poor soldering. Refused to turn it on.
Took 1 week to get refund from BG - since spent on a Lii-500 from BG.
Cometa now sits lonely in its box.

I too have a cpfitalia cometa.
The lens has a chipped edge and I had to re-solder the mcpcb to make sure it doesn’t short (there were traces of the solder on the aluminium ring)
The zooming rattles when not fully zoomed in or out.
I also see a lens cap in the pictures of the sample above, mine came without.
I am not un-happy with it, it works now. But i do feel deceived since it is not up to the specs of the light I ordered.
If I had known the quality would be this bad I had ordered the Z1 instead.
If I could get a refund I would like to, the light is not as advertised.
I have not yet contacted banggood since a friend of mine ordered the light for me, I am waiting until I know what the right approach is to get a refund easily withous making him go through the hassle. (is it possible that I contact banggood from my own account with his order number?)

If I would be offered a safe and up-to specs pill, a new lens and a lens cap I’d be ok with that solution too.

I have a Cometa and I am unhappy with it.
The focusing mechanism is loose and I worry about all the other problems associated with it. This is not my first GB but is the first one I am disappointed with.
I have not contacted BG or PayPal as yet- I do not want all the bother of photographs, videos, excessive return postage costs etc.
I will follow this thread with interest and see if a satisfactory solution can be found. In the meantime the light sits in a cupboard in its box without a battery inside and will stay there.

About my Cometa…
Received, unpacked and checked visually. Only a small part of the lens edge I found broken.
Secured known problem areas and tested with 18650 without any issues.
Asked BG for refund because of dangerous device and differ from promised product. Now have to make video for them…
I’m not happy with received Cometa and don’t intend to use it, regardless of the progress of the case.
Very unfortunate that this very good idea became a victim of unprofessional desire for profit.

Many users contacted me and asked if, where and when the Cometa lights with 100% specs will be available for sale.

The answer are all negative: NO, NOWHERE, NEVER.
The project of the Cometa required to start from a Jaxman Z1 modifyied light with an XP-L hi emitter and other things.
Jaxman has said that they are not interested in producing a XP-L Hi customized version of the Z1.
Also, we had to do a lot of work to get out of BangGood the simple “repair kit”, and at this point we don’t even think they will start making “the right” Cometa now.

So, we consider the CPFItalia Light forum 2016, the Cometa, a light that was never produced and will never be produced.

I bought a Cometa and I’m not happy with it. It works, but the lens has a chipped edge and it is not as advertised. I need to know how to contact Banggood for a refund without adding a photo to my complaint. I may just go straight to PayPal because this flashlight is not what was ordered.

Banggood declined my paypal dispute with them…so now what?

Go straight to PayPal and try your luck there

I did that, but I don’t know if I can appeal the decline from banggood there. Of course the message system is down just now, so I can’t see my options.

Bought two, patched one up so it would work but it’s still very dangerous to use, have not touched the other one. Disputed with paypal and won provided I ship them back and pay shipping. The shipping would cost over half of what I paid for the lights so I would only be getting less than half my money back. Certainly not a refund under those conditions, not worth the trouble. Banggood will be the one hurting in the end as this has light has about done me in with buying Chinese lights. BG will be loosing thousands a year from me alone. Really poor business management.

Ask for Stephen. He refunded me $40USD for the shipping of my 2 torches back as well as the cost of the 2 torches I purchased.

I escalated my paypal claim to a dispute after being given the “stalling” tactics you described in the original post - being asked to take photos, videos, provide the sku number etc

I am waiting on paypals decision

The PP dispute system is really just a PP moderated and archived email system in hopes the vendor and customer can come to terms. If not, you can upgrade it to a claim and PP will decide. BG has to keep the claim to sales ratio low or Paypal will cut them off.
