MTN Electronics: LEDs - Batteries - Lights - Chargers - Hosts - Drivers - Components - 1-Stop-US Source

That’s what I want to know. All I did was build a host using a MTN driver and I’ve got an illuminated tail. It’s magic.
It’s a stock S3 Astrolux illuminated switch. As far as I know, Astrolux mounts the bleeder on the driver. So why does mine work?

Tailcap has “access” only to the negative side of the battery , but for the lighted tailcap , you also need the plus side connected to the resistor .

So where did the bleeder on the MTN driver come from?

I really don’t know .
Richard will know for sure , except if there is a short somewhere .

Perhaps through the voltage divider?

I don’t recall the exact “how” but I think not having a proper bleed resistor can mess with mode changes. It probably lets the MCU stay on with the current from the tailcap LED, or something similar. It’s discussed somewhere in the big lighted tailcap thread.

MTN FET + 1 stuck in muggle
(Bistro)
The lighted tail switch was bothering me, so I removed and replaced it and now my light is stuck in three mods and won’t reset.
I’ll fast press a bunch of times until the light turns off. It blinks once, then pulses and the light comes back on in the same three modes. It will not go onto two blinks after the pulse. I’ve tried over and over again, but it always comes back on to three modes after the first blink.

It worked fine while the lighted tail switch was installed. (Which I didn’t even know was there for some time)

Is this driver finished?

I know this is a stupid question, but do you turn it off when it starts to pulse ?

No. I’m waiting for it to blink twice after the first pulse, or three times after the second pulse. It just automatically comes back on to three modes after the first pulse.

If it’s stuck in muggle mode try to turn it off when it starts to pulse

Crap. I was sure I tried that a bunch of times, but that seemed to fix it. This was driving me crazy. I was sure the illuminated switch did something to the MCU.
Thanks.
Edit: I don’t even know how it got to muggle in the first place. I changed the switch…and there it was.

Your welcome, only glad to help

Muggle mode disables all config options except the first one. The first config option is the one which toggles muggle mode. So, to get out of muggle mode, fast-press a bunch of times, let it blink once, then press the button while the light is buzzing at a lower level.

Afterward, you should have your original config back and also the ability to access the other config settings.

The lighted tail should work with or without a bleeder on the driver. The problem is that, without a bleeder, it might interfere with the ability to change modes, or interfere with button timings. Specifically, it might make the light think that every button press is a short one, which would give it next-mode memory all the time and make the hidden modes impossible to reach.

A bleeder resistor cannot be installed in the tail. It needs to connect BAT+ to BAT-, and there is no BAT+ at the tail end.

Like I said, I had no idea Bangood used a lighted tailcap in this plain host flashlight. When I realized it was working without a bleeder, it made me nervous it might screw something up in the driver.

Everything set up fine except #6, half press reversing the mode order. I couldn’t get that one to work. As soon as I swapped in a regular switch, it works fine. Everything works fine.

Right, ckick it 16 times or until it stops responding, when it blinks once, turn it off. Then you should be able to ckick it 16 times again and set whatever modes you wish.

Rich, do you know if there are any plans to up the Meteor M43 to XP-G3? Your Mega M6?

My source for unbranded t-20 host just went dry
Richard, do you plan on restocking soon? Or does anyone know of another source for this host? I’ve tried one other place and the quality of the finish is terrible on that one. Let me know:)

Where did the terrible ones come from? If you dont want to post where here can you PM me. Thanks.

I bought two from an eBay seller. They were suposed to be unbranded with an ir led. I didn’t care about the led as I we just planning on using the host. I received lights branded with ir-t20 and a brand I hadn’t yet heard of. I have one from mtn and it’s nice but I’m needing two more at the moment.

Thanks for the update.
