Official Thread for COMETA Refunding - Problem solving

Here’s an update on my continuing email exchange with Banggood.

they offered to send me a new pill and insulating washer.

I said no, pointing out that my lens was damaged and the light wobbles.

They are now offering to send me a new light with all the issues fixed.

I guess that i will accept this offer…

I have already received a replacement light “with all the issues fixed” & the only difference is the addition of a plastic insulating washer to the pill underside.
It is still the same Manker host with loose zoom threads, it still has the same very poor lens (damaged again), it still has a loose driver as the driver pocket is to big, the led wires still short on the anodised led retaining disc, the led wires are still 24awg not 20awg, the star is still Manker & not Noctigon & still no lens cap which is clearly shown in their ad.
I think that you will be very disappointed if you think that the replacement will have “all the issues fixed”.

Bella - Noctigon will not allow their name to be used on a complete light. They will not even allow the use of "their" red on oem manufacture. If they say it is made by Noctigon and it is DTP then that is what it is. That was explained long ago with the A6. They will only source them from Noctigon or Maxtoch and since the last couple lights...A6, X5, X6 were Noctigon these probably are also because they bought thousands of them.

If the pill size is worrisome then a couple drops of solder ought to solve that issue.

It has already been shown on here that the cut outs in the star are completely different to a genuine Noctigon so this is not a Noctigon star painted a different colour with Manker written on it.
The light is not sold as a self assembly kit so why should buyers have to rectify manufacturing/machining/ design faults (whatever the over sized driver pocket is classed as) themselves ?
These 2 points aside it still does not get away from the fact that there are many problems with this light & the lights that have supposedly had “all the issues fixed” have in fact only had an insulating washer added to the pill underside.

I am not going to get into that. All I am doing is offering explanations and solutions.

All I was doing was pointing out to fdr2164 before he agreed to a replacement that I have already received a Cometa that BG had also told me had had “all the issues fixed”.
In fact it had only had an insulating washer dropped into the battery tube to insulate the bottom of the pill.
I was just making him aware before he agreed to a replacement that my experience was that all the issues had certainly not been “fixed”.
For this light to have “all the issues fixed” as BG claim, it would need a new different host & several things changed/re-designed.
Just trying to give fdr2164 a heads up so to speak & not trying to re-start any Cometa argument.

thanks for your feedback, I declined their offer.

No problem, sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

Sorry,
just saw this thread.
we are talking with manker and Cyberscudo, we will find a best solution for you.”

Since then there has been 18 days of silence.
You will see from BG”s activity above that they were logged into this forum earlier today, 2 hours 33 minutes ago to be exact, just like they log into this forum just about every day so they are & were well aware of the problems with the light & all the threads & posts regarding it.

Respectfully, why would you not get into “all that”? “All that” is the heart of the matter with this light and group buy.

It is not the “explanations”, that some see as only excuses; nor is it “solutions”.

“Solutions” should never have been necessary for this light. This was not sold as a “kit” light, so “solutions” and “fixes”, in the number that are required for this light are unacceptable.

As your opinions are yours, mine are mine. Others can decide for themselves.

Respectfully Teacher....

Not the first time nor the last nor will it be and that is not just for these lights but even those from the BIG and expensive names (even AceBeam). I will not argue about this light. That proves and accomplishes nothing. It can be easily remedied and is very usable. Nothing more and nothing less. ;)

Okay, I’ve wasted enough time watching the dispute over these lights.
It seems to me a PayPal claim may be the best resolution of the problem.
I have an investment in two of these lights since BG would not allow a cancellation of the second order (even though the option was still available). One of the lights has fried springs and a chipped LED. Both have sloppy threads in the zoom. The other light is not used because it needs serious mods to be safe and the kind of mods everyone is using are not permanent fixes. I have not seen a real solution for the shorting of the parabolic to the soldered wires. Yes, I know there are “fixes” for this but none of them are such that one can be certain there will not be a problem in the future.

My complaints are:

  1. High potential for dangerous short under parabolic disk.
  2. Not a Jax Z1 host.
  3. Wrong size pill.
  4. Wrong gauge wire.
  5. Wobbly zoom threads.
  6. Risk of short due to poor battery insulation.
  7. Not a Jax Z1 lense.
  8. Not compatible with Jax Z1 extension part.
  9. No lense cover as shown.

Can someone please summarize the experiences that others have had with a PayPal claim?
It’s a bit much for me to read through the many threads concerning this light and all help would be appreciated.
I don’t want the expense of sending these lights back but I’d rather have one genuine Jax Z1 which I can mod to make what I truly want than to have two potentially dangerous torches that will never be to the same standard of a Jaxman.
I’m just weighing the costs of moving forward and would like to make certain that BG knows how seriously offensive this has been to many customers. I don’t have the time to be drug through the hoops that I see many have been made to jump through trying to get a serious resolution to this matter. My email to Cyberescudo weeks ago was never responded to.
Any experiences with PayPal claims would be appreciated. What should I expect?

I will repeat what I have said before BG has my money time to boycott them

Bugsy36……
Sadly, I must totally agree with you when you say this is not the first time … nor will it be the last when poor quality lights will be delivered to trusting buyers. Seems that is the way the world is going these days in many instances in fact.
That is truly a shame………

I agree with you also that there is nothing to argue about concerning this light.
bella-headlight & others have made good points about it. You & a few others have made your points… good also.

People can read all the information & decide for themselves if they feel they got what they were promised and paid for.

It is pretty simple. And I totally agree with what you said…. “Nothing more and nothing less.

Cause that is what it all boils down to… the informed choice of the trusting buyer……
Nothing more and nothing less……… :+1:

If you file a dispute you will be 100% refunded. Do not even waste time providing photos/videos etc.

I got a full refund just providing a list of things that was wrong with the light.

THIS LIGHT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH PAYPAL.

You will get a refund since there have been so many complains and explanations before you.

I filed a paypal dispute and won but was required to send the lights back which I didn’t do because of the high cost. In my case, no refund.

Ha the issue with sending a BLF special back (even if shipping would be covered) is that I order a special and do not want to sent it out. So no win there.
For the Cometa, its flaws and mayhem have teached me a lot for the Q8 so for that reason alone I would not part with it. I have it boxed in my line of sight and if my issues get dealt with it will be out of its box in my line of sight from where I sit behind my PC
It will stay there boxed or not until all Q8s are in peoples hands as a constant reminder of the lessons I must not forget.
I saw the pressure build to release it and well we can expect the same kind of pressure for our Q8. 1 glance at the Cometa will make me withstand it

@the millers Q8 project

Lets Start with the pressure: :+1:

WE are near to 500!!! :sunglasses:

Pls give US a timetable, even it is Xmas. :innocent:

we will send one plastic cover for the COMETA

and 2 20AWG wires

and a insulation disk.

NO!

This is absolutely disrispectful!
After conutless messages to you by our Staff, after promising… this is still what you offer?
Memers did not buy a DIY light, this is not a DIY project.

BangGood person that wrote the above message, we know why you are writing this only now.

We know you read the messages we write, however let me remind you for the 1000th time that this “kit” won’t fix:

- the light not being a customized Jaxman Z1

- wobbly threads

- underperforming lens

- driver shorting inside the pill

  • all the DOA tailcap

The awg wires needs to be soldered on the light by the member, and this not all members can do, PLUS this is not a DIY project.
You know all this problem, and you still sell the light without any worry for the people who can buy it.

You sent a new pill for avoiding shorting in the driver but the holes for the wiring are too small and cut the wires.
This is disrispectful towards all the members who believed your words about a real fix, to all the members BangGood tricked into getting a new (broken) cometa instead of a refunding, to all the unpublished and censored bad reviews on your site, and all the member whom refund was refused… and to me and Wonwurster, that have taken on this broken situation with free help for the members.

To all the members who bought a Cometa:
Have you red all the “versions” of the kit, offered?
from the initial insulating gasket for the pill, to the one with new wires, to the one with o-rings for the head threads… and now just this “simpler” one.
Did any of these kits fix the light? No.
Did any of these kits fix YOUR lights? No.
How many pics and videos have you had to submit to BG customer care, in order to buy BG more time to NOT FIX THIS?
Have your refund, or paypal claim being refused yet, like to many other members?
How long are you going to wait to have your repaired cometa? the answer is forever, since the light CAN’T BE FIXED.
For the last time, this is a underperforming light, different from the advertised one.
BangGood knows the issue and his latest answer is coming back after many days, proposing an old version of an already proposed kit.
I will encourage members to report this behaviour on Trustpilot and other rating websites.

Can someone please sell me or send me the spare brass ring for the tail cap.

I have lost mine :frowning: desperately need it

I have no issue with the light regardless of all the negative comments / issues…. I can work around the problems as I can mod many lights  but i need the RING
