Freeme Review: JETBeam JET-1 MK 480lm XP-G2 14500/ AA - incomplete, pic only

Update:

That is bad, how is pwm with a nimh?

No visible PWM with AA.

Thanks a lot for all the effort! I think that I´ll skip this one. Also it is a twisty… I don´t like AA twisties.

Still trying to unscrew the bezel …

Got mine yesterday. I got like 500 lumen with my ceiling bounce with 14500. Pretty short runtime. Like 20 min and gets super hot.

Biggest disappointment is that it doesn’t pocket well. Pocket clip doesn’t hold in jeans tightly and the anno is very slick. Its been sliding around in my pocket all morning.

I purchased three Jet mu, and two Jet-1-MK. One mu has a more neutral tint as well as one of the Jet-1-mk’s. I like all of them. Great price and very useful small lights. If I need a blinding wall of light I use my XinTD-SC 82-V5. If I need a very long run time my Thorfire VG10 fits the bill. Each flashlight is tailored to fit a niche.

Nice review, thanks
I’m liking my Jet-I MK
I agree with Bc412 the clip is not much chop
I run mine on NIMH

Has anyone broken one of these lights down yet? I ordered one today, hopefully it’s not completely glued. I’d like to throw a fet in it.

My jet-1 MK is glued between the pill amd the body .
But i think freeme said (not sure) , it has a removable bezel.

Just received mine and I was shocked at the size of the xp-g2 (my first of this led). I was expecting an xp-g die size and quite the throw monster but have to say the beam resembles an xml2 in a larger reflectored light. Of course, it was my bad having the wrong expectations on this light, which is quite a steal for the money, truth be told.

So — moddable?
On sale: Gearbest flash sale: Jetbeam JET-I MK (AA/14500) $11, JET-U (AAA) $8

Definitely moddable. Here’s one with a Nichia 219B:

It’s just that the bezel is glued in place on the head, so you need a strap wrench or some such to get it off.

I ordered one of these lights and now need recommendations for protected 14500 cells that will work with this flashlight. I read that some cells might fit too tight.

I’ve carried one for almost two month now and i’m very pleased with it so far.

I’m not a big fan of twisties but this one is smooth enough it can be operated one handed - although sometimes it skips modes if you are not twisting off far enough and get some sort of rebounce. I’m a bit sensitive to PWM but didn’t get annoyed with it yet. Must be relatively fast PWM?

It’s small and quite bright for the size with a 14500. I like the beam shape and decent throw too.

GB has it on sale these days… Just ordered a second one. :person_facepalming:

I got 800mAh Keeppower cells

Last charge showed 848mAh

I opened it up for centering the LED and ordered a replacement XPL Hi

My advise for centering the reflector is to glue the reflector with the spacer, its almost impossible to get it centered without that, bcs it has not a typical centering ring

I ordered 3 of em only one got decent centered led

It is glued, but with some heat you can get it opened relatevily easy
Its like some soft acrylic glue

My Nitecore P12 is absolutely resistant to be opened up with more heat and way more force no chance

Lexel were the Keeppower cells you used protected or unprotected?
Thanks

Protected as the light drains em until the PCB trips
Cell voltage putting in charger is then 2.9V

Does anyone know the approx lumen level on Mid setting when using a 14500 battery? It’s gotta be more than 30.

My camera is not showing any PWM on any mode. Using a Samsung galaxy S6 camera, with a 14500 cell in the light.
