I’m really liking my Mi7 also. I do wish it had a pocket clip though so I put mine on on a P7 clip but it takes longer get get out of my pocket than it would wit an actual clip. It has also turned on high in my pocket a couple to of times, but overall it’s one of my favorite AA lights.
The light has a lockout mode :exclamation:
Turning it on from lockout mode is frustrating.
Mine goes to battery check.
That is what it’s suppost to do! You can also lock out by unscrewing the head slightly.
While I don’t yet have this light, I admit I am not fond of electronic lockouts.
One advantage of electronic side switch is for ease of use. You can quickly operate the light while maintaining a good handshake grip. This can be faster than twisties or tailcap clickies.
That advantage is completely lost if you have to jump through hoops just to enable the switch. Far better just to have a stiffer or more recessed switch that you can safely leave enabled all the time.
They should use a lockout similar to what the UltraTac K18 brass and SS uses. Double click to both enable and disable.

But instant access to strobe already uses the double click on the Mi7, which is why lockout has to use something other than a click, double click, or long click. The instant access to high, strobe, and moonlight is a good feature of the Mi7.
I have yet to need instant access to strobe on a AA/AAA light.
What is the point of lockout mode if head turning is better option?
Great light but bad UI
1. I prefer a electronic lockout.
2. But better if I have option for electronic or mechanical lockout. This have both.
3. In others lights the electronic lockout is very easy for accidental turn on….this makes not very safety. I like this lock out.
4. I do not think that aaa or aa light is a tactical light….I really do not see useful a strobe (is agood extra option, but not useful defensive option…). strobe direct access, interesting in my tacticals (P20,P10, ST11….), but have no sense on a little EDC, I prefer direct access to High and low mode, is a perfect and simple interface for a good EDC.
Nice, what did you use to attach the Magnet to the Mi7? Just double-faced adhesive tape or glue it with superglue?
Those little magnets have a lot of force, and using simple adhesive tape might not last long…
I thought about getting a 10x3 mm neodyme magnet instead of a 12 mm one, to have bit more space for the lanyard and not too much power on the magnet.
Edit: unfortunately after a few days my resumee is that the Mi7 is just too big to be carried in a normal jeans trousers pocket … too bad. Will give the Astrolux M01 a try for a perfect pocket light.

Yep, almost all AA-lights are to big for jeans pockets but they are O.K. for khakis.
Well I carry my S1 (21mm bezel) as my EDC in fitted jeans without any bulge…but you have to suspend it with a dangler (clip).
The neodymium is attached with super glue, I choose 12mm because it’s exactly the size of the flat part on the Klarus

Got the first of my Klarus Mi7’s in yesterday. Had to settle for a red one, but still, very happy with it. For daily usage, I like the minimal modes and easy to learn UI. Lockout is nice as is battery check. I think it was a good decision on Klarus’s part to come out of lockout into battery check so that I know the condition of my battery whenever I take the light out of lockout. Given the low capacity of AA/14500, this makes sense to me. Not sure I like it starting out in high every time on the short press, but since it’s just another short press to medium, I don’t mind so much.
The anodizing on this red light is decently hard. I managed to get the pocket clip from (I think) an old AA minimag onto the head of my light and back off again without scratching it.
I came across an old holster for a minimag (not sure if AA or AAA) that the Mi7 fits quite well into.
X3 Thanks for working out and posting the dimensions for the magnet. That takes care of one of my issues with this light.
Minor issues:
- I never understand why manufactures place only a single lanyard hole or 2 180 degrees opposed. With this configuration, the lanyard runs over the bottom lip of the flashlight, making it unstable for tailstanding, which I use every day. How difficult is it to drill another hole directly adjacent? Then the lanyard can run along the outside and not affect the tailstand.
- Magnet in the tail would have been nice. I like
X3’s mod, but now there will be a lot of nooks and crannies for ferrous bits of metal to get stuck in.
- Not to beat a dead horse, but pocket clip? Please?
All in all, I love it. I’m using it to burn through the vast quantity of marginally used AA batteries I have lying around the house. When I go out, I grab one out of misc battery box to swap out when the one in the Mi7 dies. Also I always have a fully charged NiHM and 14500, packed in a case in my pocket, just in case. Eventually plan to use a Jetbeam MK for AA burning, since it was cheap and I won’t mind as much if the battery leaks in it.

I have both Manker E11 and Klarus Mi7. I mostly edc the XP-L HI Klarus… I’m throw over flood in these small sub 1000 lumen lights. I for one would welcome a UI revision… quick press to low and long press to high/memory. I think that would alleviate the need to lock it out every time you pocket it.
I picked up this clip from Klarus Parts and Accessories - EliteLED.com, it’s the one made for Klarus XT2C, ST2C, etc. Tightened it up with a pair of needle nose pliers… not perfect but a nice tight fit. Scratched it up pretty good installing it, but don’t really care… it’s an edc light.

I received mine the other day and am very happy with it so far! UI is awesome! Instant access to turbo, low and strobe, as well as a easy to use lockout. If it was my choosing, I would prefer it to come on low with a single click, then medium, and have it so you had to hold down the switch for turbo. Although I’m sure many people would prefer to keep it the way it is.
This light along with a couple AA Energizer Lithiums is an AWESOME camping/backpacking backup light! Low will probably run for over 3 continious days with an Energizer lithium and it will weight virtually nothing as well.
All in all, I’m very happy that I got in on the group buy for the light, and I’ve already told my brother about it and he plans on getting one as well!
The black unit not include a clip, but the truth is that it fits niceeee …. here the black, with the clip of another unit (green olive)
For 14500, do you need to use button top, or will flat top batteries work?
