That tells me all I need to know about the LEDs. :person_facepalming:
However, if the light is generally well made (I don’t know), then the LEDs could be replaced, and it could be great for a portable wide-area flood light.
I use a nitefighter BT70 mounted on a small camera tripod as a work light, it works well and it’s powered by a 4x18650 battery carrier. The BT70 head only was $25 when I bought it last year, not sure if the coupon still works.
Easily detachable and I can mount it on a gopro short monopod and use it as a handheld light.
I give it a few hours of angry blue light fading fast.those are good for 50ma ea on a good day.there are a few types of 5630, ect that are speced for 100ma.
Still nowhere close to the claim.
I’m planning to do a multi worklight/lantern review but here’s some quick thoughts:
Pros:
-Excellent build quality
–3x 18650 actually 2,000mAh each with manufacture date of just 4 months ago
-Well spaced modes
-Never gets hot because the front plate is cast aluminum and the emitter sits on top
-Emergency red flash is useful.
-Tint is nice at 5500K, not too cool and not greenish.
-Easy to open up and mod, already replaced with LG F1 in my unit
Cons
-Steps down after a couple minutes to 50% on turbo, DISAPPOINTING because it can easily handle the heat, they just decided to program it like a flashlight.
-Not quite 20W, it feels like 1,000 lumens.
-Too heavy to be used as a camping light, and useless as a worklight due to step down.

Without doing a massive amount of hacking out the AA slots and possibly shoehorning in 3-18650 it might be doable…would probably be better for some of those flat pack old cell phone batteries and maybe modding it to have a 1A TP4057 charger module hot glued down inside
It’s a very neat little light…I had a coupon for one for $7.99, magnet is decently strong and will hold quite well, decent enough light for it’s size (no 1000 watt barn burner) for for basic shade tree mechanic’n it will be more than enough.
Now I don’t know how much current you can push and with a LiIon vs 3-AA it might push it hard and cause issues…who knows…I have a few cheapo older cell phone batteries that will fit easily if I just dremel out the 3-AA slot and wire straight in…then just twist the end cap back on
Oh and found a hack for those stupid blue lights from harbor freight that have the front lights and the side lights
Open it up, the switch that has the side with two leads, solder a jumper across the two leads and viola…an off/on instead of toggle light, which makes it a bit more useful, and it has a magnet on the back as well so might help with under hood work too.
