I don’t think so, if the plumbers putty is in a small tub, it is the kind you use that hardens up over time. The duct seal is a 500g/1lb block in a plastic wrap, like modeling clay.
So the OTR charge is good for charging to 4.2v and not overcharging, right?
I just got the OTR M3 package too and charged the battery with my Xtar charger.
Then i tried to charge it with the OTR charger and the light stays blue (won’t charge).
So i assume the charger is pretty much good to go.
I got mine M3.
Battery is full but it doesn’t work when I press white button.
I don’t understand this: “OTR M3 supports both protected 16340 and CR123. There is no spring at the driver end. Unprotected cell will require to raise it anode end (e.g use of magnet) to make contact.”
What does it means “to raise it anode end”?
Sorry on my bad english :person_facepalming:
I think it means you must attach a small magnet to the positive end of the battery. I read about a guy who used a small knife to slightly bend up the positive flat top end of a 26650. Seems dangerous though. There are also some kind of small spacer you can get that attached to the flat top + end.
Unbelievable. I bought 10 flashlight and they all work. I’m not an electritian.
I don’t have a small spacer. If I buy that connector, I have to wait at least 10 days?
I just need a flashlight which is working.
Yeah i wish the descriptions for lights stated the battery lengths supported. I have some protected button tops that are too long for some lights but work well in others.
You may want to pm the guy who bent up his flat top + ends. Ask him exactly how he did that. I know it was in a post about the liitokala 26650 cells. Sorry i cant be of much help.
I don’t think the xtar has a magnetic tailcap? I can’t speak for the M3 but the internal construction of the Xtar looks cheap. Everything held on by two screws into plastic. I have only seen this on cheap lights off ebay. Heres a link to a pic from a review of the xtar.
I have the xtar wk50 and it just feels cheap. It was only 9 dollars so no real complaints there.
right, that is the xtar: screws plus PWM… i still like it though…
what it taught me is, i do not like the battery limits of 16340, so i will not get any other 16340 light.
the XTAR is fine at its price, it works and is very small.
it also taught me to hate magnet tail caps - i added one and it just sticks to junk in my pocket, which usually falls on the floor after getting the light out…
Again, depends on your need. In my area, the high desert, 35 seconds is more than enough to determine if the rustling in the scrub behind the house is deer, coyote or mountain lion. 300 lumens won’t cut it (unless they’re looking right at you). Although I typically don’t carry anything as small as these lights at night except as backup.
