Ι thought so , too , TheMiller .
Based on the latest Astrolux flashlight…

I have the E-14 Nichia and it is not glued nor green. I have been happy with it and it has become my “go to” light when I need one.

I orderd the 18650 tube and use that when I want longer run times. Most of the time it is in the 18350 configuration which I find very convenient to carry and use. I put a label on each of my batteries to identify the purchase date and find that the 18650 tube is a little tight when accommodating a labeled battery .

Bob

I could go for a nichia with heat treated 18650 tube!

I was wondedring if the LED’s in the Manker E14 version could be a different bin or batch, vs the Astrolux S41 version.

Could you put me down for a gift box as well? Would like a second nichia 219c so two nichias, one cree heat treated.

I’m interested, one S41S Nichia And 18650 tube Please

Please put me down for one S41S Nichia and 18650 tube.

One S41S with Nichia and 18650 Tube.

Thanks

Please take note that S41S's head assembly will be glued. Producer does not want buyer to mess with the components.

Bullshit, I’m out, don’t care for a flashlight that can’t be opened, first of all i had plan to coat the copper piece so it will prevent patina, now i can’t or ill need to damage the head trying to open it, thumbs down for whoever the manufacturer is.

I am out

I do not want an Astrolux glued, especially without knowing who the producer. Sorry

im out too if the head is glued.

Kinda useless to me if i cant mod them latter

I do not see this as a good practice. It basically allows the manufacturer so stuff whatever kind of crap they want in there and we just have to live with whatever it might be. Personally I don’t like it one little bit. I’ll have to thing long and hard about whether or not I still want to be a part of this.

Edit: also consider that those of us who really want to can and will get around the glue and expose whatever is inside anyway. So what the hell is the point? Just wasting our time and potentially scarring up our lights getting them apart.

Now i bet again that the “New manufacturer” is just the old one
……

Makes me wonder what they’re trying to hide…

Don’t they understand that it will scare off potential customers?

First of all, you guys have to understand that upcoming S41S is just a stainless steel version of S41. Neither it is going to be S42 nor S41 II, which I have suggested repeatably to them since May. I am aware of the safety concern for previous MCPCB design issue and the washer fix method that came after that.

May know how many S41 buyer(s) have their light becoming faulty directly due to it? Without figures, we can't tell how bad the situation really was.

Just to let you know that I am not a Banggood employee and I have very limited influence for its design. However, Neal did ask me assess S41S and give him feedback after I have tested it.

It would be very important to know before ordering if the safety concern mentioned in post #132 was properly resolved. We do not expect new features, but the known problems must be corrected, and we need to be sure that this is indeed the case.

My post was not aimed towards you or your effort to bring this flashlight to BLF, it was aimed to the manufacturer who i know that wont read that and i must say that im disappointed because i like the flashlight but glued head is no go for me, probably can be opened with brute force but doing that will damage something for sure.

After some thought, although I’m not happy about it, I’m not going to back out due to the glue issue. One of the lights is a gift for a friend and won’t need to be opened. As for mine I assure you I will get it open one way or another, I’m 99% sure I can do it without damaging anything.

Freeme my comments above were in no way directed towards you. I was merely expressing distaste for the manufacturer trying to, in my eyes, hide what they are doing. What you do for the members here is very much appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. If I’m successful in opening mine I would gladly do the service for anyone else willing to pay the shipping fees.

Both the bare steel and rainbow steel look nice. I’m concerned about the glue though, and the likelihood that it might use the same green 219B emitters as the original. If I got one, I’d want to modify it. Or even better, empty host with no driver and no emitters on the MCPCB. Is there any chance of that?
