First impression: Manker MK34 vs Noctigon M43

I just received my MK34, did a ceiling bounce and measured with a Lux meter:
The output on turbo is within 1% the same as from my Noctigon M43 (measured to 4450 lumens according to Hank).

Had to use 25R cells, 30Q are a tad too long for the MK34.
Both are equipped with 5000K Nichia 219B.
When comparing the tints the MK34 is slightly more greenish and the M43 is rosy.

I get the feeling that they might have been tooled in the same shop. The lanyard holes are for example very similar.

The MK34 is even smaller than the M43, both rather heavy (for their size) and give a robust impression.

plz show some beam shots and run time chart

MK34 on the left and M43 on the right, about 15cm from the wall (6inches).
Both on a medium level (unfortunetely not the same since they step differently).

MK34 greenish and M43 rosy, the difference is smaller in reality (something about the camera and different output levels I guess).

MK34 tighter “hot spot” than M43 (actually not much of a hot spot on either of them, they are both very floody).

From the photo, seems like the MK34 has the greenish tint as the Manker E14/Astrolux S41 Nichia.

That are awesome pics
Thanks for sharing, I’ll be steering clear of Nichia lights from Manker since I hate that greenish tint.

Actually no.

Below is MK34 on the left and Astrolux S41 (with Nichia 219B) on the right.

Now it’s the MK34 that looks rosy…

(Same camera/same wall/same settings (not that there is much you can adjust on iPhone) as before.)

Was going to say, the MK34 didn’t look greenish to me

If it looks greenish, it's just the screen you are using. So many millions of screens that are not adjusted and most can't be, so colors are never true any more.

How true!

But I wouldn’t trust cameras too much either.
And that goes for old analog ones too: remember Kodachrome that enhanced colors (especially green)?

MK34

PROs

- Build quality (transmits confidence)

- UI that is fairly easy to learn (as opposed to M43, which I still haven’t mastered after more than a year)

- Lots of neutral high CRI light

- Small, actually fits in most pockets

- Reasonable price (for what it is)

  • Great looks (high tech)

CONs

- No thermal regulation

  • Only really short cells fits

Conclusion: I like it (a lot)

The M43 is probably a superior light, but it’s also a lot more expensive and the UI leaves something to be desired

About User Interfaces:
Why can’t designers learn from ToyKeeper’s A6 masterpiece?

Thanks for the new comparison.

That is a relieved as I’m worried it has the greenish tint as my S41 has the “ugliest” tint of my other 219B and 219C lights.

I just stumbled upon a new (undocumented) way to access the battery indicator:

From ON (any level) long press (2 seconds plus, longer than to just switch off): the light switches off and goes to the battery indicator.

The holster that comes with Nitecore EA41 is a perfect fit for the MK34.
