Mike, they offer a TN42C that takes a proprietary rechargable pack or the TN42 that takes 18650’s. :wink: Same performance from either, so they say.

Are you talking about TN42? It is 666g including batteries.

Which one do you guys bought, the NW or CW. Normal I prefer CW. I can’t decide which one to buy. And use the coupon TN42 for 10% off.

I bought the CW one without battery pack.

Even have the new 18650 cells with a built in charger via mini USB at the positive end of the cell on the way.

That’s right, plug a charging cable into the cell itself and charge it from a back-up power supply or the USB port on the computer or car. No bulky charger to keep up with. :wink:

Dale , reading your post (#28 on this thread) , the best results (performance wise) should be using Sony VTC5*A* batteries .

Next option should be VTC6 , with a bit better runtimes and performance very close to VTC5A .

Last option for better runtimes should be Ncr18650ga (and i would estimate less performance ).

Just my thoughts , based on batteries i tested and results i got .

My experience between some 18650 batteries,is that between GA and 30Q,the latter have better performance.

High drain cells are not neccessary (max. 2.2 amps) and the TN42 is fully regulated. It doesn’t behave like the K70 which has a stepdown first and later continuosly gets darker and darker. I used regular high capacity protected cells in my runtime test:

Do you mean 2.2 amps from the whole pack ?

2 series cells for 8.4V at 2.2A each cell is still doing 2.2A. [Edit: add another 8.4V battery in parallel and the amperage stays the same, capacity doubles, so all 4 cells should be seeing that 2.2A and with say an Efest 3500mAh there should be 7000mAh capicity, is that right? I tend to not be sure how this all works, since I’m so forgetful.]

So any cell can do that. Panasonic B’s come to mind, or the new Efest metallic purple 3500mAh. :wink:

Dangit! I just got 2 of those and 2 3000’s! Ugh, why wasn’t I thinking? Oh, yeah, I also just got 8 Samsung 30Q’s. Nevermind. Still though, 4 3500mAh would be max run time possible, might have to snag another set and get 4 this time as I put the spare cell circuitry for my new TM03 onto one of those 3500’s. :wink:

Running the light with just 2 cells is working too. Just reduced runtime.

Seems like they’re probably running the XHP-35 at around 1.8A, maybe 1.5. I’ve got one running 3.13A and making 2986 lumens in a Convoy L2 off of Neven’s LD2 with modifications. Wondering if a bit of a bump might be viable for this one. Hmmmm…… dang light hasn’t even shipped and I’m already planning it’s demise. lol

Edit: I DID notice that in y’all’s measurements it hit some 647Kcd, 20’ shy of a mile. Impressive!

I can tell you that the TN42 on Turbo (constant brightness without stepdown like the K70) after 10 minutes running is about 50’ degrees. To hot to hold.
What temperature would it be if you run the XHP35 higher? I think Thrunite made it this way because of safety purposes.

Is there a single cell driver for an XHP35 out there anywhere besides this one?

(Single cell 1A with & without side switch)
(Single or Dual Cell 1.5A without side switch)

TaoBao official shop’s seller told that they regulated the XHP35 to 2000 lm (CW) to minimise the risk of “smoking” cases like K70:)
My two K70 both “smoking”…. Haha, even after I changed one of them to NW, it still “smoking”…. (I tried Alchohol, Flux Off, AC11 cleaning, etc… but still failed)

Yeah, I ended up sending my K70 back because of the smoking issue, the driver whining, and because a few of the lower modes wouldn’t work.

The 1.5A would be nice but I don’t know if I can fit a 22mm driver in my M25C2 Turbo. It’s got a 92mm head, I’ve got a fet and a dedomed XM-L2 in there right now. The XHP35 HI foot print is a little smaller than the XM-L2 so it should throw further.
