Cheap P60 host

Basically I'm searching a cheap P60 host to toy around.. but not the cheapest crap ofc. I found the "budget host trio from MF"-thread but also SF sells a sand body for 8.99..

Tell me which I should buy. :P

What's your budget?

You missed out on the Solarforce deal of a lifetime the L2M with the extension tube was $12, but they are sold out now.

The old 504B is very nice for the price one of my favorites.

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-wf50x-flashlight-tube-metal-bezel-black-no-led-emitter-p-6064

If you don't have a 501A yet you need one and a couple 18350s to go with it.

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-wf501a-flashlight-tube-cr123-mini-p60-host-no-led-emitter-p-4294

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/protected-trustfire-18350-37v-1200mah-rechargeable-batteries-2pcsset-p-7943

Budget.. dont know, about 13$.

I wanted to stick with 18650 because thats easier for me. I want to build a blue flashlight and just noticed this host on MF:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/lumapower-mrv-led-flashlight-tube-no-led-emitter-p-5646

or maybe one of the camouflaged ones..

That MRV one looks nice. Check out some of these the one I got from them was exceptional quality.

The MRV's are great lights and use the same reflectors as a C8 but they aren't P60 hosts. If you want P60 then skip the MRV. You can get a 501B or 502B just about anywhere for dirt cheap. Often with an XM-L p60 drop-in included for around $10

This is my favorite. I prefer it over my Solarforce. Has great grip and build quality is excellent. A little over your budget, but well worth it.

My personal cheap favorites are:

The 504b (50xb?) from Manafont. Closer-than-normal fit for the drop-in for better heat-sinking with aluminum foil, anti-roll hex, and tailstands. $8.12 - http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-wf50x-flashlight-tube-metal-bezel-black-no-led-emitter-p-6064

Also available in Silver: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-wf50x-flashlight-tube-metal-bezel-silver-no-led-emitter-p-6065

The Sky Ray S-R5 host; Cool styling, good heatsinking, tailstands. Very rugged. I ran over mine with my truck (Cry) and the only damage was chipped anodizing and a warped bezel ring that was easy to bend back into shape. $7.99 - http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/sky-ray-sr5-flashlight-tube-no-led-emitter-p-5548

The 501b; more difficult to heat-sink so a better fit for non-XML emitters but still nice. Just be ready to use lots of aluminum foil to wrap the drop-in. Light-weight, pocketable, and the cheapest of the set. $6.30 - http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-wf501b-flashlight-tube-metallic-black-no-led-emitter-p-4050

<Edit>I just noticed you said you wanted a blue flashlight; the SkyRay I referenced is not gray like the picture on Manafont shows, it's actually a muted pale blue color that's hard to describe. It looks very nice! Use the SkyRay host with this drop-in (http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/generic-blue-beam-mode-led-dropin-module-3718v-p-7808 - $6.60) and drive around in a blue car singing the blues...

<Edit, Edit>SKIP the camo ones! Those hosts are very poorly made. Any of the others I recommened would be MUCH better quality.

The Solarforce in sand is nice, though there were a couple of folks that got pretty rotten factory seconds. (That got fixed by Jo at Solarforce pretty quickly, but a bother still.)

I don't know if you're planning a single mode light, but it is a forward clicky.

ultrafire C1 body - clone of the centurion and fits in your budget.

Thanks for all the answers! I think I'll order this host:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-wf50x-flashlight-tube-metal-bezel-black-no-led-emitter-p-6064?rp=032201

And try this dropin:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/generic-blue-beam-mode-led-dropin-module-3718v-p-7808

Hopefully they used this emitter:

This time registered airmail!

Great choice of host! THe drop-in looks pretty nice too.

Second. Very highly recommended, even tops solarforce. I used think nothing will beat SF but once I use this for a week or so, it quickly rose to be my favorite. It's comparable in quality, probably lacks a little in look, but beat everything else in handling, and how it feels in your hand.

Host is only $8 at MF.

That Sky Ray was on my list.. but its just too damn ugly. :D

I decided not to buy a laserpointer so I thought I need a blue flashlight. Seems legit?

Oh and thx keltex, I would have ended up buying the parts seperately. :D

Another edit.. Johnny, where did you find a P60 host with XML dropin for 10$? Thats about as much as I paid for my last XML on copper PCB..^^

I've got one of the sand SFs coming in the next few days, surprised more people didn't second that.

Edit: And now I hope the QC problems were already fixed, too.

They turn up every now and then on “dinodirect” and “offers.dealextreme”. Just keep your eyes peeled here and there for bargain alerts and someone will mention it when it happens.

I think the UF-hosts from Dino may be of lesser quality, than "real" UF hosts but I´m not sure.

I have had 3-5 504B´s from Dino and one 501A from Mana.

501A from Mana beat all of those in quality hands down, so I think there can be some variation.

I like the SkyRay because it is different from the rest. And the rubber cigar-holder ring makes for a nice grip.

This seems pretty cheap.

http://www.dinodirect.com/led-flashlight-white-light-3mode-600lumen-ultrafire.html?DDID=3520-615

But I bought this, it is excellent. Pulls 2 amp with my trustfire flames and 2.5 amp with my unprotected Sanyo. 5 mode, it does have memory and it comes SMO.

Its also very well made and where my recommendation goes.

Marc.

Sorry. Now I have bothered to read your post properly I would change my recommendation to an L2T Solarforce. I know it's not as cheap as the $8.99 ones, but it is so much nicer. I was one of the people that got a bad L2. It would not have been a problem if I was told of the faults, but for it to turn up and look the way it did was disappointing. especially when it's not a cheap no-name dino special. But I still love them.

Marc.

I thought about an L2T, too.. but I decided thats not budget enough for this. Also I already have a blue L2P, so.. time for something new. Tho I would totally buy a green or red SF host.

edit: @trooplewis: If I want to cigarhold something, I take a cigar. :P
