Nitecore TM11-disappointed

Not with the light in general-but with the tint. It's horribly green on low and mid levels, less on high but my Kings whip its ass.

You know where this is going... has anyone had one disassembled or modded these? Are the emitters on stars or part of the whole board?

I wonder if Gun Safari is selling out seconds with bad tints. I'd like to hear everyone elses' experience here. Yeah, the price was great but I have no tolerance for green.

Fantastic output for it's size and great UI in which case the revised switch on v1.12 makes it sublime... but agreed about the tint. It's pretty bad and I have a feeling some are mistaking it for a neutral as when compared side-by-side with a cool, it does look that way but when actually compared to a true neutral it's noticeably green.

However, it shouldn't be too noticeable outdoors though so it really depends on primary usage.

Here's a quick vid I put together on some things I've noticed while doing maintenance on the o-ring /threads. Also quickly covered the changes vs. v1.11 as well as the tint:

Do agree the tint is quite green on the low mode. Similar to v60c.the LEDs can be replaced. Access by removing the bezel, lens &reflector if I recall correctly. The tough part is removing the LEDs as it is glued on. N the toughest will be aligning the 3 LEDs back on later to the reflector.there’s a link in cpf that’s show in details and pictures how it is done. Read it quite some time back.

While current regulation is more efficient and strobe-less it's downside is that lowering levels shifts tint towards green. PWM on the other hand keeps the tint.

There is a CPF modder called vinhnguyen54 who is quite reasonable and his work is good, he is US based as well so postage won't cost you too much I don't think

vickers214....check out some of rich's mod threads...i'm guessing he won't be paying anybody ;)

+1 to that! Rich is one of the best modders there is!!

Haha Im new here! Sorry Rich!

These are good emitters to solve your problem, only $6.60 each. ;)

Got a link? Couldn't find anything on a search of CPF.

Thanks for the compliments! Needed that today... CPF gave me the ax anyway so that's not an option or choice.

Green tinted XMLs? Yuck. I recall getting greenish tinted XPGs when they first came out and was really disappointed. It became more apparent when I got the NW tints which I like the best.

For such an expensive torch (TM11), it's surprising Nitecore did not source some good white tints.

Using iPhone now just can’t copy the link. It’s on page 9, post #261 of Nitecore tm11 review thread on cpf(total 18pg). A translated version post on a German forum.

Ah! A million thanks!

I agree .... and it's a shame to have crappy tints on high dollar lights ... If they tint shift then there isn't much you can do ...I guess we go right back to starting with a good tint in the first place ..reminds me of the 4 sevens greenlight specials .

I like pulsars advice ...put a drop in in it :P

That's really what's keeping my from jumping on that tm11 offer. Granted, the last thing I need right now is another light, the last thing I need is a light with a crappy tint. I asked gun safari if they had any neutrals, their response was that they only carry the cool white.

Indeed I value my tints more than ever, in this stage of the game.

For most users, the tint wouldn't be noticed and even for me, it's not... at least outside. But that's not the point.

Rich

I dunno, take a light with a good tint, and then take one with a cool dull tint and look at objects. The contrast, and clarity is always better with the good tint. It's not Nitecore's fault. That's what happens when you get a cool white.

Sure it is... I have cool whites that are great with no green at all, not in the hotspot transition, nowhere. Nitecore got lousy tints, period.
