Beefy drivers for single cell lights

What's the most powerful driver I can buy retail for a single 18650/26650 light? I would simply want to replace the existing driver. I don't want to stack or anything like that. I only need one or two modes, no more.

the most i have seen are the 3.04A njang 105C from illumination supply and the similar ones from KD.

+1

That's a bummer. It's a shame those buck boost drivers don't want to handle <4.2V. I plan to use an IMR 26650, which would obviously supply higher current.

I don't want to bug E1320 to modify a driver for me. I think I've bugged him enough already.

Buy him a beer/burger via Paypal and all good. :)

The most powerful "driver" for a single cell is called direct drive. Make sure you have proper heatsinking and off you go..

Maybe http://taskled.com/lflex.html

That looks interesting.

Very true. I was trying to keep it regulated with high current but I might end up going direct drive (haven't done this before).

Specficially, I'd like to do this in the HD2010. I just can't recall how difficult this particular flashlight is to mod. Will an XM-L in this light be able to handle an IMR 26650 on direct drive?

You could build a NANJG with 10AMCs -> 3.5-3.8A on high.

I dont know how that light looks on the inside, but it also depends on your XML. Some just physically cant pull more than 3.5A or so. My MF dropin pulls about 3.8A, my UF980L goes up to 4.3A and I've got a T6 Warm white on copper star from led-tech thats stable at about 3.5A.

I ~guess~ that also depends on the binning of the LED. And heat. More heat -> less amps.
