Dog Farts

Sitting on the couch watching TV, browsing the web with my pug sleeping next to me and launching farts at me. How can a dog that's as small as she is make a smell that big, dear god, I swear the paint in the room is peeling and that my nose hairs are singed. Just damn.

i was just thinking something similar to that about myself.

is there a piece of chit under my nose ? no, one just snuck on out ...

... ehhemm excuse me brb

...ok

i think the moral of the story is, um table scraps - maybe to many ?

Very normal.Did he eat something wrongly?

That"s what my dog said! Man,that face is priceless.

Keith (who always blames the dog)

Man, I"m sitting here laughing at YOU laughing! Too funny.

Keith

Small? Our little pug is short, but not exactly small. At least yours was sleeping, ours will do that sitting on the lap and then stand up on my legs and look around to see who and where the smell came from. LOL, I never do dog farts.

One cannot say that size goes hand in hand with the smell. We have a Bernese Mountain Dog and a French bulldog, and I must say that the "french bully" smells 20 times more than the bigger one. Worst ones are the ninja farts that come with no sound...with an innocent look. :D

What brand dog food do you feed?

I used to feed the big names like Iams, Purina, Science Diet, etc. until I got a new puppy a few years ago. I did a little reading on the net and talked to my vet about ingredients for dogs before bringing him home from the breeders. Previously vets have suggested to buy the big names since I think they get kickbacks and discounts. But when pressed about meat content he told me about REAL dog food with high protein meat ingredients, not the mass produced crap full of rice and grains which dogs and cats have trouble digesting causing gas, bloating, and other issues. Once he told me that, I googled for good dog food, and found http://dogfoodanalysis.com which does independent reviews of dog food. I switched my pup from the crappy Royal Canin food the breeders fed to Orijen Puppy dry food, and his poops decreased in size and smell, and he never has smelly gas.

He's been eating nothing but 6 star food since he came home with us (no table scraps unless it's unflavoured chicken or beef scraps), and he is very healthy, active, and his coat is smooth and clean. He's the healthiest dog I've ever owned. Check out that website and switch your pets over to good food. It doesn't cost any more than the big names, but since the good brands have more protein and usable energy, you actually save money since you're feeding less. Today I feed him nothing but the best 6 star brands (Orijen Adult and Regional Red for a bit of variety) which I highly recommend and he gobbles it down every single day without hesitation. Plus I like the fact that Orijen is made right here in Canada.

For weekly "treats", I buy 6 star Wellness 95% chicken or beef canned food, scoop it into golf ball sized portions and freeze it. Once frozen I put the "treats" into a ziplock bag to keep in the freezer, and take one portion out to defrost once a week for him and he loves it.

Check out the dog food site and see what other brands have a top 6 star rating, and try a bag. Switch your dog over to it slowly over a week or two with a mixture of old and new food (gradually increasing the new) to avoid any upset tummies, and see if you find him/her more pleasant to be around.

LOL, dog farts, what a topic

Sheeeeiit.... dog farts. He hasn't gone up against me!

We have a chocolate Lab, a Lab-GSD mix and a Llhasa Apso. Our rule is: No junk for food. Once we got caught in that gap between running out of good food and using store-bought food when we ran out. Their coats got dull and they didn't look good.

When we got caught up and got our usual health food, they looked great again and I call my Lab-GSD mix Streamlined Dog!

Already feed her a 6-star, Taste of the Wild, I think it is the high protein which gives her gas. Actually switched from High Prairie formula to Wetlands, which is a switch from Bison to more Water Fowl ingredients. This was just because the store was out of the High Prairie, I had been switching it up between their 3 or 4 formulas for awhile but noticed she has the least gas and issues overall with the High Prairie formula.

I have a British Bulldog and he is absolutely lethal. He will wake himself up with the stench, snort a couple of times then run away from it. Just unreal. We have him on Acana Pacifica food, but others were just as bad. I have had other dogs but none of them come even close to the potency of this guy.

Eye watering, room clearing, paint melting, sinus burning, vomit inducing fug.

My brother had a pug and she was pretty much the same as mine, could make quite the smell.

Worst is when my dog (red nose pitbull) farts while I'm driving in winter time.

I have no other choice but to stick my head outside and freeze my face.

After my dog lets one go, I'll confront him. He pretends to be sleeping but I can tell. His eye balls are moving around under his eye lids. Once he knows he's busted he gets up quickly and runs out of the room. Little shit!

I am 69 years old and have never lived a day of my life without at least 1 dog in it. I have had as many as 4 dogs at once and presently have a Border Collie and a Labrador Retriever. I have come to the realization that there is one and only one remedy for DOG FARTS.
