I look for a Led flashlight with a very good beam extension

Hi, I'm new here and I'm not an expert guy. I'm looking a Led Flashlight with a good light but with a very good beam extension. I have just seen this flashlight: http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/498175051-TrustFire-3800-Lumens-LED-Flashlight-Torch-3-pcs-Ultrafire-18650-Rechargeable-Battery-AC-Battery-charger-wholesalers.html

In your opinion is there a better flashlight than it? I look it for a walking in the rainforest. Thanks

Welcome to BLF. What do you mean by beam extension?

Thanks for your reply. I mean a beam going very far.

Oh, ok. For that I would actually recommend something with only 1 xm-l instead of 3 as the reflectors on the triple xm-l lights are very small and thus not throw as far. My personal recomendation is a trustfire t1. I have one and it will shoot out a beam fairly far.

Here you can see what the beam looks like. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/8832

Then there is also the sipik sk68. This is not going to put out as much light as the trustfire but it will shoot out a beam. The other advantage is it will run off of a normal aa battery.

It is interesting but I look for more lumens. It is 1600 lumens only.

Just so you know more lumens does not mean more throw. Also the one you linked to is probably are 2000 lumens and the trustfire t1 is probably 700ish. If you are set on having 3 xm-ls then I would recommend either the DRY or King. I have beam shots from the dry in that same thread. The problem with the dry is it will not light up an area as far away as the trustfire t1 could.

It isn’t 2000 but 3800 lumens. You can verify it in that link.

You are right but I think a flashlight with 3 xm-l and 3800 lumens can get a throw like only 1 xm-l one. Do I make a mistaken?

Just because it is advertised at such doesn’t mean it does that. If all of the leds were direct mounted to copper then it would be possible that it could reach 3800 lumens. But there is no way they would do that as it would be extremely expensive.

And no, more lumens does not mean more throw. If i get a chance I may be able to post a picture of the DRY at further distances. For throw you want more lux not more lumens.

I like to understan fine. If you think a 3800 lumens are around 2000 real lumens, how many real lumens will the DRY have? Are they 500 lumens? Thanks

The DRY is also around 2000 lumens. The only difference is they choose not to overstate the lumen rating as much. The DRY has been tested to be around 2000 lumens. Here the link is. http://www.fancyflashlights.com/goods.php?id=2

Ok, therefore can you tell me the differences between TrustFire and DRY? They both have 3 reflectors, the same lumens and have they the same throw?

Well, the reflectors look fairly similar. The only reason I recommend the DRY is because we know it is well driven, and reliable. While the trustfire is one that no one here has (afaik) so we don't know whether it is properly driven or heatsinked well etc.

I hope don't annoy you. In your opinion the flashligh with the best throw is sipik sk68 (one reflector) or are there other more expensive flashligts with better throws?

No, its fine. I don't mind the questions. Everyone has to learn somehow.

But for best throw out of all lights I would say it is the olight sr-90. That will out throw all of these other lights but it costs alot. (350 USD) The sipik sk68 is not the best thrower by any means but it is very good for the price (10 usd) and it runs off of a common battery(aa).

If you were me, with 100 USD what flashlight would you buy? Thanks for your precious news.

Do you have any 18650 batteries/lion charger?

I don’t have it but I can buy it. No problem.

Shadow TC500 or Crelant 7G5

Ok, if they have a thow better (if it is stronger) than sipik sk68 (I will consider the buying. Thanks a lot.

Both of the ones Johnnymac listed are much better throwers than a sipik. I'll have a sub 100 list with batteries and charger up in a few minutes.
