Any comments on the NAVY K-507?

Hi -
I noticed that Exduct has the Navy K-507 on sale for under $10 (not an advertisement, Im just saying.)

Does anyone have this knife - is the quality good?

Id like it if the quality is as nice as the SRM 710, but in regards to the Navy brand I only have the Navy Spyderco Police model and its finish was kind of rough.

There is one good review here, but Id just like some other comments before I order would be appreciated - thanks!

Its also called the poor mans Sebenza which is pretty interesting too.

Looks similar to the SRM GB707 which Exduct also carries and which I have (and like). They have it for $7 I believe.

I don’t have the Navy though. Just wanted to mention the 707 in case you haven’t noticed that one.

Hi - thanks for the reply - I do have several 707 models! That is an awesome knife, its also the same knife as the CRKT Drifter.

The Navy knife though I think is almost double in size, it should be 1.5 times the size of the SRM710.

Also Ive never had a knife that is one side stainless, one side the black plastic material.

I see, well, the only larger knife that I have any experience with is the Bee L05-1 which seems to be about that size. It comes in G10 but mine has rosewood scales.

That knife feels good in the hand and opens the easiest of all my knives.

Maybe someone with the Navy knife you are asking about will respond soon

I think that navy seems to be the worst of all good chinese companies. For that price i like more other models like the enlan l01-1.

I disagree. I have about 4-5 Navy knives and they all seem good. With Chinese knives you have to go on a case by case basis. Enlan makes some good knives but also some not so good ones. I don’t have the K-507 because the design doesn’t do much for me but I would be willing to bet it is worth more than they are asking. Pretty much all the good Chinesr knives are a bargain when you compare what the same price gets you elsewhere. For $10, you can’t go too far wrong. Just buy it.

I have bought two of them (one for me, one for a friend) and I like it. Here is an older picture, where you can see some of my knives (to know which I can compare with it - at the moment I have some more knives like the Bee L02, Bee L05-01, Enlan EL04 - I don’t have a 710 or 707)

The Navy is a nice EDC - the Enlans are to big and heavy, but the quality of the Enlans is awesome. I like the design (stonewashed blade, one side with handle, one without). It’s sharp out of the box.

Both have obnly screws not a rivet / blankk like on the picture.

It has one disadvantage. The lock is like the picture of the reviews shows it. I haven’t any problems until now, but for heavy using I think it could be unlocked.

But for $10 it’s a great EDC.

Buwuve, what is the attraction for having one side with a handle and one side without?

It’s not an attraction, but I like things, which stand out from the crowd.
A little advantage - it slips smoothly into the pocket because the side with the pocket clip hasn’t grip.

I guess that’s why they make them that way. I was just curious as to why they did that and I guess that is the reason. Thanks.

Update. I bought one of these K-507s. It’s a full sized knife that feels nice in the hand. The closest Chinese budge knife I can compare it to is the SRM 710 but the Navy is a full sized knife.

My example opens and closes smoothly and easily. The one major flaw is the lock-up. It barely engages. I don’t trust it. It will wear in in time and has already improved dramatically just by playing with it but I want to take it apart and make some slight adjustments to the lock-up before I start using it and trust my fingers to it.

I’ve had my Navy K507 for a while now, and it Has become one of my favorite Chinese knives. This is a really nice blade. Larger than the SRM 710, this Sebenza style folder is a real work horse . The stone washed blade and framelock with black G10 on the one side make this knife a must have.
It comes razor sharp, but like all my blades, I give it a few strokes on my leathers using fine compound for a hair popping edge. I also, usually, totally disassemble all my new blades so I can wipe them clean of any factory grime and lubricant with an alcohol swab and relube the pivot with my own. ( after trying many, I now prefer FinishLine “Extreme Fluoro” for my knives and flashlights.) the all Torx construction make this knife easy to take apart and adjust.
Most of my Chinese knives now sit in a box, as there are only two that I like to carry. The K507 is perfect for those who prefer a larger EDC, and for a more refined, slimmer EDC with a classic look and feel, the Enlan F723 is my choice.

repost from Budget knives dealers all in one

It`s my favorite knife from Navy/SRM/Enlan. And I don`t understand, why this knife is not very popular. It`s bigger then SRM710 (well known), 440c blade steel, good edge retemption, grippy G10 scale and frame lock.
For me there is only one problem with it – tip-down clip. Actually I`ve redrilled scale for tip-up carry, but it was not easy. I think whole side was hardened, not only frame…

my customized 507

I also like the 507, but the Navy knives seem to have more fluctuation in production quality than let's say SRM or Enlan. The one-sided G10 has the benefit that it feels better if your are right handed as your fingertips rest on the G10 which is a lot "grippier" and a lot "warmer to touch" than pure metal.

The 507 is a great looking knife. If it’s nearly as nice as the Enlan/Bee L-05 then its very good indeed. Both the SRM 710 and the 507 are Sebenza look-alikes and are termed “frame-lock” style since they have only one scale. The L-05 is a “liner-lock” since it uses two scales.

Suingab, the is one fine looking 507. Did you make the custom scale?

yes, it`s my work
