I have a couple of the mini C8, they're really nice, took AAA batteries and give good output. Don't run 14500, the boost driver is a very simple joule-thief circuit, good chance you'll break the inductor with 4.2V.
You can split the tail, body and head (all metal). Lens and reflector are plastic, pressed in with the lens retaining the whole reflector/LED/driver/spring in place. You can remove these by hammering a flat screwdriver from the inside carefully, then you can swap whatever you want. The driver and LED are 16mm based, BUT you need a new pill for higher power application because the original one is PLASTIC.
My take is, as long as you don't expect too much, this is a good buy for under $3. Good body/switch but need a metal pill if you want to upgrade.
So these would be as bright as the original $1.50 ebay lights rt? About 30 lumens?

Actually, at these prices, it might be the wiser thing to collect. Now were can I get a mini display cabinet? :S
