Quark "X" AA² XM-L--Does it Run on Single AA NiMH?

I know that many people lego the Quark “X” AA² XM-L head onto a single AA body and run 14500’s with it.

My question is, will this same setup work using a single AA NiMH? Or is the minimum operating voltage too high for a single Eneloop to work?

please here for further discussion ;)

Yes it will run and work normally on a single 1.2v NiMH cell, allowing all modes to work. Maximum output will be about half with that lower voltage as the boost circuit has to work harder to get similar outputs compared to the 2xAA setup. The head of that light operates with 0.9-4.2v input so once the light shuts down, the single NiMH should be fully depleted and ready for recharge. I have the same light but with the older XPG R4 NW emitter and it works great on a single cell. Perfect size for my wife and it’s so easy to just pop in another NiMH when needed (we have lots of AA and AAA duraloops sitting in the drawer ready for use). I use the Lumintop ED20 with the XML T5 NW emitter and really like having a single cell 18650 to swap when needed. Single cell lights are my preferred choice.

It runs great on 1aa Nimh or Energiser are fine. Quark has two voltage ranges in there line. The 2aa is the low voltage head  so your good to go
