EDIT: $11.15 z5 deal has ended. UniqueFire Z5 new price is $15.99 - 10%off = $14.39 still a good price if you're into 2x18650 lightsabers.
DD's other current best deals in my opinion: XM-L Star $3.99(link) before coupons, Fenix E21 2AA $31 (link) before coupons, SkyRay King clone $57 (link) , $51 after coupon if you can find one, I don't consider anything above $20 a "budget light", but these are still the best prices around if you have a DD 10% off coupon,
10% coupons: bargainavenue10off or DD10SALE 8% off: SAS8
5% off cpn: DMHW or DD expires:Nov30,'12
My DD experience: Received orders in: 17 days,
14 days; 3rd order LOST(3+months); 21 days,
23 days,
34 days,
2 orders still in transit. Caveat Emptor...
OLDdeal alert ---------------
The Trustfire Z5 (Z1) 2 x 18650 XM-Lzoomie thrower used to sell for $45,
I would get it if I weren't still waiting on my first 2 DD orders (uf2100 and xml star), so I'll wait till I get them before I send more monie their way.
sample ebay pic of Trustfire z5 ; lightsabre gif courtesy of fishingfool ; ref links disclaimer, i do not work for them, DD is a gamble. ; danke DinoKreisler for coupon codes
I honestly think I have to stop spending time on this forum …
… I just thought that I’m happy with the flashlights I have right now, and then this came up. I think I shouldn’t get it, but then again there’s the price
as tempting as it is, i'm not ready to jump into the multi-Liion game yet, so holding out for the 1x18650 version of this light instead, as i've always thought this was the best looking zoomie out there. at least this one has better heatsinking and won't melt like the sipik sk98 xml!
at 75% off though, resistance is futile $11 is like what in GBP, like £1 ? :)
this would make the perfect light sabre in thick London fog!
I just received 8 of these for which I paid $8.50 from Meritline. As soon as I placed the order, I tried to take advantage of the deal once again and it had vanished! The deal was 50% off for any XML T6 flashlight so I went back to the page to find some other lights and as soon as I returned the ad had just disappeared. I guess I should have posted something but I don’t even think anyone would have believed me - and yet, I’m staring at the lights as I write this.
The brief Uniquefire z5 $11.15 deal has ended, and the 10% off coupons also expired. DD is back playing games, like raising the price of the Skyray King to $110 as an "Anniversary Sale" special price. *vomit*
Personally, I don't consider anything above $20 "budget", but if anyone still want these at 5% off with retailmenot5off, definitive5off,codes5off, I had these old prices bookmarked:
I made a bunch of orders in June. DD was lighting it with prices. It all ended as soon as they had their big “sale”. Maybe sale means something else in China?
I can cool it on DD until they change their prices again.
I never did order this light because it just didn’t thrill me in any way. Ulgy as heck as well.
i recieved the letter int he post after waiting 7 weeks that the parcels dd sent me has no adress even though it has tracking number it has been sented back lol wtf
Surprisingly, I received my Z5 today from DD. Amperage readings are from freshly charged cells, after 60 seconds of runtime:
TF 2400:
2S: 1.51A
1S: 2.28A
Panasonic 3100:
2S 1.49A
1S: 1.79A
Seems to have a better driver than other reviews I found on here. The XML appears to be driven hard, although I haven’t checked the actual driver efficiency.
Edit:
With two batteries in series, I found just over 2.2A being sent to the emitter. Driver appears quite inefficient. Also all threads were dry. I recommend disassembly and applying compound to the star to pill and pill to housing. I also resoldered the pretty poor looking connections to the star. The housing seemed to get warm enough before after 15 minutes, but compound is really needed to help move the heat quicker.
The housing gets much hotter after application of thermal compound. Now after 10 minutes on high the head gets 132F, center of body 125F, tailcap 114F where before compound the head was around 110F. You can convert these to C - I don’t know how to change my contact temp tool to C.
I can’t do further measurements at the moment due to being ill, but the light would work fine if you had a dummy cell to use, or other housings. Just expect lower output.
I would normally measure voltage during tests to show that the Panasonic and TF cells are putting out the same wattage. The Panasonics will hold a higher voltage under load, requiring less amperage to power the LED. With measurements, I’m sure this would prove true.
ty again, I hoped that you was able of unscrew the body in 2 parts to use 1 or 2 cells;
about the amp you are right forgot that particular, you aren’t so hill hope that you’ll back in health soon
