Need a cheap Thrower/battery/charger combo

Hi Everyone,

I already posted this on another forum, but want to ask the experts here as well.

I am looking for a high lumen output (800+) thrower/charger/battery combo. I would like to delve into the 18650/14500/26650 rechargeable battery world as the AA/AAA world seems to be comparatively under powered. I don’t want to spend a lot of cash but welcome any and all recommendations. Size doesn’t matter, but throw does.

I’m sure that this has been addressed before, but some of the links I researched were way outdated.

If anyone knows of a good deal where I can get a thrower/charger/battery combo with 2 or more batteries, as a set from a single distributor, please let me know or post a link.

Looking forward to your help and thanks in advance!

Thanks!

-Bill

What’s your budget ?
Edit: -Here’s a decent c8 and battery charger combo
Here’s a decent c8 and mediocre battery and mediocre charger combo
around $30
I have several C8s and one from this seller is nearly the best. (Xintd is better)

But it won’t be long before you buy a better charger (xtar, soshine, hobbycharger etc) and better batteries (protected panasonic NCR18650A).
And better lights (UF980L, King etc)

Trust me.

You can get all from one dealer.. but whats your budget?

Stay away from Ultrafire cells. Most are just crap.

Also, whats your definition of a thrower? Do you already have any comparable light?

There is throw from small lights that give you a tight hotspot with almost no spill. Those will always appear brighter at large distances.. and there are throwers with a nice hotspot and some spill.

This is a nice combo - decent throw (~1000') and everyone I've bought it for loves it...

C8 flashlight XM-L - $21.95: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/c8-xml-t6-900lumen-5modes-led-flashlight-118650-p-6402

Trustfire charger - $9.42 (can be had cheaply elsewhere, but since you want to order from a single source...): http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/trustfire-multifuctional-charger-fir-10430-10440-16340-17670-18650-cr123a-us-plug-p-1205

Decent Trustfire protected 18650 cells - $11.70/pair: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/protected-trustfire-18650-37v-3000mah-rechargeable-batteries-2pcsset-p-7941

Holster $1.99 (if you want one): http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-flashlight-holster-for-c8-p-7510

Total package price: $45.06 shipped. Plus, you have good cells and a decent charger for future light purchases... I have bought several of these packages for co-workers and family members and everyone loves the flashlight. It's extremely bright, throws far, is compact, and is a very usable light.

Thanks all for the replies!!! The prices seem right around what I wanted to pay ($30-50).

I have a TK41 that throws like crazy, but I wanted to get something with other than AA batteries.

Thanks again, all!!! I guess I’ll go shopping now!!!

Welcome to the BLF !

As others have mentioned, it’s worth a few bucks to get better cells - preferably protected for those starting out.

Anything with a Panasonic or Sanyo core is a great start, and please practice safe Lithium-Ion handling procedures.
