Is Anybody Coming To The Olympics?

There aren’t any Olympic sports that require a torch/flashlight so maybe there isn’t much interest from flashaholics?

The Olympics .

The only sports I watch .

If you guys know the best FREE streaming websites for it, please share.

Wishing good weather, above all!

UK isnt known for their best weather

The ducks like it here

I’m already sick of the Olympics……

Don’t get me started on the waste of money…

….and the Swans……

+1. You think you have problems? I live in east London, so the traffic will be screwed for the duration. What’s it got to do with sport anyway? It’s just a huge marketing exercise.

Still, the Brits will manage to cock something up - G4S (the security form) has already messed up big time, so we have the army pretty much taking over security.

Londoners were told a few years ago that it wouldn’t cost much - the equivalent of a “walnut whip” on local taxes per week. (A Walnut Whip is a revolting chocolate shell, with sugary creamy sickly stuff inside, topped with half a walnut). I think we were conned.

Wigan council spent £20000 on bunting for the torch route, the torch passed the bunting on a damm bus for gods sake.

Guaranteed it’ll get cocked up, the politicians will try and shift blame and what we’re left with is a huge waste of money that could’ve been better spent in schools, hospitals and emergency services. Give the lads from the armed forces a rest, its not like they’ve not been busy recently……. Besides, we’ll fuck them over, dump em in a warehouse on rat packs, that really sucks. :~ |(

Conned by politicians Woody? Come now, that would never happen would it?

At least it STARTS with a torch Vas

Hmmm, I wonder if I can buy a Chinese copy? :open_mouth:

I wish I could go but a little too expensive for me. I love the Olympics and would love to go one day. If I could pick one event to see in person, it would be the 100 meter finals.

i thought we're not talking politics on BFL, forum rulez?

( where is gorann when you need him )

I won't go to the Olympics... but I will definitely watch them. :)

i am not sure, but this girl's T-shirt says "Barcelona 2012"

Are all Australian females like her?

no Kreisler, most are better looking

all right, i am sold!

will be there and watching the OZ gals..

Girls from OZ rule!

Wish I could go, love London and the Olympics are quite an experience. I used to live in Atlanta for 28 years, mostly grew up in the area. I remember how exciting it was as the city started going for the event, when they were awarded it and watching as the entire area was transformed over a 3 year period. I worked at Coca-Cola HQ at the time, which was almost at the epicenter of the Olympic Village. My family and I moved to Chicago two years before the Atlanta Olympics, but I got tickets to a few events and we spent two days there. On the last day we were at the exact spot of the pipe bomb, 24 hours before it happened.

Unfortunately, I think they spend way too much money on it now (Atlanta probably started the recent trends of excess), money that should be spent on more worthy causes, especially in today's world-wide economic climate. I will definitely tune in to watch it though.

@ Kreisler: Can't help you with free streaming. In the U.S. the Olympics coverage is ubiquitous. NBC has the main channel plus a 1/2 dozen or so cable channels. I expect it will be on 24/7.

i think last time i used this website for watching:

http://www.eurovisionsports.tv

Let's see if China can repeat the feat and be #1 in the country medals ranking (Beijing 2008) again. USA was #2. Deutscheland is most often among the Top 5. Russia always Top 3.

Yes all the pick-pockets from south America and eastern Europe are coming.

ouch.

i have friends in LatinAm and Eastern Europe :)

I’ll be the first to Buck the trend. I am going to the Olympics on the 4th August to see athletics in the main stadium.

Not my usual thing, but my kids are at the right age to appreciate this once in a lifetime opportunity. The tickets weren’t cheap, and maybe the country could do without it at the moment, but it’s happening, so I’m going.

Less that 1 hour from Canterbury to the Olympic village (fingers crossed)
