Battery Recommenations for TR-J12

Been looking through 5-6 pages of 26650s and TR-J12 threads, but they seem to go on a tangent. Anyways what are good solid batteries for this thing. Just got my cheapo 9 dollar charger/18650 combo pack with my lights and looking for some good decent batteries.

From what I’m reading orbtronics, King Kong, Flames and a few others are really good for this flashlight. I’m really lost but just wondering if someone can put down some decent batteries for this thing I’ll be happy.

Trustfire flames 5000 mah have been proven to be good and people generally love them.

TF flames might possibly be better due to being protected since you need cells in series.

About 22wH with 4 good C NiMH. Distinctly brighter that 3 Lithiums (18650 or 26650) in my experience, and exactly equal in brightness to 2 Lithium cells. See related link…

I am using Hi-Max 26650s in mine, they work well but are a bit on the longer side due to having protection and a “nipple” positive contact.

Bought some flat 26650s. What should I do? Thinking about buying some rechargeable C batteries.

You could just put some solder drops on the end.

used FENIX ARB-L2 before, worked well.

There are much better cells for less than or the same amount of money.

bought some, but saw some washers at walmart… 25 washers for 1.25, solved my problem, 1 washer on top, one in-between, on on bottom and it helped. Anyways what is the run time you guys are getting on your batteries?

bose301s . where did you find Hi-Max 26650 ? I didn’t know they also make 26650 …

these seems decent anyone bought from this seller before ?

Just got some new 26650s batteries. Anybody every tried using another extension tube and do 4x26650?

Please be sure and use some method of positive attachment for the washers. We don’t want your light turning into a pipe bomb…

I haven’t so, should I use glue or solder? and won’t it affect how i can charge them? How about flat 18650s? should I solder them onto flat tops too?

Also since there’s springs and I do make sure they don’t rattle, since I use washers to tighten the gap isn’t it safe? I’m only using 1 washer per space so there’s very little chance of it slipping and making contact with the wall. I did notice today if i take the tailcap off and use the last washer to contact the negative battery & wall it does light up.

If the washers on the positive end of the battery slide down and come in contact with the body of the flashlight, very bad things can happen (especially if using unprotected cells).

It’s best to put a solder blob on the positive terminal, or worst case magnets: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/20-Neodymium-Magnets-4x1-mm-N40-warhammer-models-craft-magic-4mm-x-1mm-thin-/160845861664?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2573291320

I’ve used those magnets with great success, they are triple plated with nickel and copper, they barely add any resistance! Super strong too

WARNING about King Kongs and your J12.

I have this combo and the cells are to short. The light won’t turn on unless you modify the length of the cells. Like glue coins on them or stuff like that. Great cells but unfortunately a little bit too short!

Do you have the King Kongs with or without raised tops on the positive end. The raised tops are longer.

I have them without the raised tops. I didn’t even know there is 2 versions. Wish I knew that a couple of months ago when I ordered mine from intl-outdoor…
Where can I get the raised tops ones then?

From intl-outdoor  lol.
