Google Mail

Does anyone use Google Mail? I haven’t been able to figure out how to have the full list on the left stay open as a default setting.

For instance, there is the inbox, sent mail, etc. but there is also an option for “more”. When you select “more” you get the full list of options. I want that full list to appear permanently as the default setting rather than the shorter list.

Is that possible?

Just tick the ones you want to have permanently.

Awesome! Thanks.

No prob. I really like gmail. They dont send you spam, free imap for mobile phones..

I like it too. There were just a few things that I hadn’t figured out yet  I just switched to it a few months ago.

It’s a nice clean layout. With adblocker I don’t even see that small banner in the middle of the page.

The best feature in gmail is their msg auto-grouping. Too bad they purposely leave this out of their API and thus it’s only supported in their own apps/website.

I use it, via email client.
The best feature is that it has pracitcally unlimited space.

The worst feature is SPAM folder. Average user pro’ably doesnt know how many enails he missed because gmail had outthem in SPAM.

It happens every now and than that emails that are not spam are in spAm (well, i receive 50-0 mails daily, something like that).
And email client cant download from spam folder, nor you can tur it off (and I wouldnt want in fact to turn it off, because there is many real spam emails in there).

So, only serback is that you have to, (if you have many emails and such problem) check SPAM folder on the webpage, every now and than…

I believe that someone maybe doesnt have that problem, but I have it

I have been using gmail for years. Most of what i find in my Spam folder is spam.

Well, Thunderbird can sync and download the SPAM folder which contains like… >99% spam.

Have only found a few in there that was important in there and have been using it for quite a few years myself! I switched from yahoo and like gmail 1000% more!!!

I love Gmail. Desktop notifications are awesome. (You don't even need the browser open or any new software!)

gmail is great for sending anonymous emails

Im using it many years too, and I noticed that at once.

Simply cant be reliable bussyness email… (or any kind of reliable email if we are talking about that).

My emails (from different domains) also sometimes get stock in receivers gmail spam folder and they dont have a clue its there.

I have used some other providers and such mistakes never happened with emails from real persons. MAybe with some promotinal email from some company (sent t a number of addresses), but not some private email.

Im still use it extensively though  But its as if it never got out from “beta phase”.

That’s why I wanted to turn the full list on. That way if I’m expecting an email and I didn’t receive it I hit “all” and see if the email now shows up.

I dont have desktop notifications because it would be redundant.
I use Opera browser and mail client inside, so I have notifications always. (and its IMAP).
But Opera mail client doesnt have option, s far as I know, to download mails from gmail spam folder.
MAybe its in gmail options? Who knows - but Im reasonably satisfied as it is.

The best thing is that I never have to delete emails from the server, even large ones

I’ve had gmail since it came out. It’s fantastic! The only things that get caught in the SPAM filter and aren’t necessarily are “e”tailer ads from discoverbuying, everbuying…and the like. I’ve never had issues with it.

Yeah there are some apps also, with which you can us it as your personal online file storage, ie file server, (Ok you can do that manually with emails, just attach file in email and… send it to yourself)

gmail is very good. just don’t use it for your tinfoil hat exploits, lol.
