Budget current-regulated lights?

I’m looking for some budget current-regulated lights to calibrate the I.S. and am having a tough time with the ‘budget’ part.

I have a Thrunite and Zebralight, but need a greater sample size.

Can you folks please recommend some more well-regulated budget offerings ? Thanks !

If you have a P60 host, Malkoff drop ins are very well regulated and thermally very steady too. Its not a budget light though.

Aren't the AA/14500 Xenos current controlled ?

Ooo! I have a couple of those in different color temps.

Thanks for the reminder !

I think almost all Shiningbeam-brand lights are current regulated, so is the XIN TD C8

As long as Vb is above Vf, isn’t any 7135 light current regulated?

What “regulated” usually means that the lower modes are not achieved with PWM (rapid on/off) which is less efficient than reducing the peak current to the emitter.

Thank you. Understanding comes when you least expect it.

What about Maglites? I understand they have complied with ANSI std. Would a Minimag Pro or an XL series light work?

I don’t know, just asking.

“Regulated” can mean a lot of different things, but I think at the very least it means “not direct drive”
I don’t think it specifically relates to PWN, but a good one can.

This is a great article that addresses circuit regulation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the MiniMag Pro is regulated, just not constant current. I think the design is specifically declining current to prolong run-time.
