Looking around I am starting to see more and more lights with side clickies. I like that trend but have some concerns about available replacement switches. A rear clicky, I can change if it goes bad, easy. Are any side click switches available? I would hate to give someone a light that I can’t fix.
You would have to open the light to see if the switch is integral to the light like a Mag or if it’s modular and mounted on a pcb like many tailcap switches. Integral can be more difficult if the switch is glued in but modular is more straightforward. I like Judco switches because if you are careful they come apart and snap back together.
The ones I am wondering about are on a PCB. With rear clicks you can just buy packs of four or five different sizes and then you are ready to fix anything. I imagine that as more lights are made with these switches they will start to make their way to the DIY vendors.
