Hi
I just joined the site today, after finding a thread where a member is selling 18650 batteries that I previously had read reviews of, but couldnt find for sale anywhere, so I am trying to get on the list before they are all gone……
I am a member of another light related forum, CPF, and have been for almost a year under the same user name I have here. I have almost 500 posts/threads there.
I got into LED flashlights at the same time I joined there, as I was pretty much unaware of how good LED’s had become. I had bought a LED headlamp in early 2007 for a mid winter, multi-day backpacking trip through Shenandoah natl park in early February of 2007, and I had to completely re-outfit myself, because my gear was about 15 years old at that time, and needed “refreshing” to say the least.
So someone told me about LED headlamps, which I was also unaware of, and I found this review site called “flashlight reviews” I believe, and I looked through there and picked an off brand LED headlamp sold at an apparently now-defunct website called amondotech. I thought that headllamp was great, and all it had was 3-5mm LED’s, and one Luxeon LED, but it did the job.
Then last year I found out that LED’s were much better than I thought, so I bought my 1st light, a Jetbeam BC-10, then the 2nd, an iTp A6 Polestar, which has a great Cree MC-E and runs up to 700L, with 3 modes plus a strobe. But it has crazy wide spill, with a medium sized hot spot so it has great flood, but with good throw(unlike my Zebralight SC600, which is all flood).
Since then I’ve bought about 20 lights, and have sent 2 back due to “issues” like a bad switch, and the other was just a bad light altogether. I also sold 2 that I had bought due to their beam tint being too yellow for my taste(both Eagletac D25 Ti’s, D25A and D25C with the T-6). I now have 16 lights, including a new Thrunite TN-30 I just got in Saturday.
So I do have ‘some’ experience with these things, but I am still in the learning process.
