Ledlenser T7 modded to aspheric

I’ve made my favourite zoom light from a Ledlenser T7.
The stock light with TIR had a nasty beam with rings and artefacts, and not bright enough for the size/weight.
I removed the resistor from the high-mode, removed the led-post and added the Ahorton aspheric lens.
Now its better then the 3AAA DX zoom lights and the Tank737 T6, it does 29,7 kcd, with an XR-E on 4xAAA.

Nice work!

I would have thought leaving the post would have reduced some of the rings however.

Hi and Thx! Havent tried to blacken the sink and the ring on the led yet.

Something else: on a couple of photos I recognized what must be the shadows of the bondwires. Never seen this.
And it gets hot on high, even the batteries get warm. But thats why I kept low mode.

Good job!

Its rare to see someone mod led lensers/ coast lights. I've had a few but none of the never ones.

Great quality hosts but the insides? Not so much.

I love what you've done with this. And I certainly believe you when you say it is your favorite zoomie now.

About those bond wires. In some aspheric lights you see them and in some you don't. And then in some you see them at some distances. Go figure ;-)

Lovely bit of modding, I am sure that Ahorton will sell a few more lenses now!

Ive not handled a t7 before, are the modes selected by a multi position judco style switch?

Woody

I do not know what judco style is. Its a 2 position forward clicky with a third momentary position.
