Something is bothering me (where are you foy?)

The other day someone in a thread said ‘just buy what foy say’s & be happy.’ I have tried very hard to find this thread but gave up so you all will just have to take my word for it. Someone (you know who you are) else come in & said ’ everyone needs to stop treating foy like God’. foy has not posted since. I don’t know if he even saw the thread & foy certainly does not need me to stick up for him. But I will! I read this forum for many months before becoming a member & foy with his self deprecating talking in the third person rambling on & on about this light or that one, was one of the members that caused me to sign in. I am certain that no one on this forum thinks of foy as God & I certainly do not think he sees himself as such. I am very sensitive about others feelings & I know if I were referred to as God it would really bother me. I read the post many times to see if the person was joking or not. I came away taking the comment seriously (poster correct me if I’m wrong I hope I am). I am personally offended that a comment about such a nice guy as foy would be made without it being called out! I meant to comment at the time but was stunned/pissed & wanted to cool down before commenting & then forgot what thread it was in. BTW, foy has not posted since (over 3 days). Forgive me if i am making something out of nothing but this has really been bothering me. Again, I don’t know if foy even saw the post in question, but I did. There, I said it.

I made that comment, it was because someone commented in such a way which idolised him.
I in no way meant any disrespect nor offense to religious people, Foy or the person who said it.
It was in the monster flashlight thread.

I was not trying to insult anyone, but I was saying not to impose their values onto other people as someone said ‘just buy what foy says and be happy’. To me that meant telling someone to turn into a mindless sheep who just goes along doing what other people tell them to do. Don’t you think that this is bad? Controlling other people? I certainly do, and if telling people not to impose their values onto other people (yes I see the ironic hypocrisy here) is insulting then so be it. But I didn’t intend for any offense.

I’m sure Foy is not missing because of my comment though.

I'm more concerned about Don. It's almost three months since he last visited this forum.

Maybe someone (or something) is abducting the most knowledgeable members of this forum?

..or then Foy and Don are just together in flashlight rehab and everything is cool. :)

I also noticed some of the older members vanishing… quite concerning.

Oh and I don’t think God (hehe I swiped Foy and it wrote God) is that sensitive. But I wonder what’s up with him.

They must have alot going on with there lives……it took me a year to get back on here because of - Naomi was born, the job market was down…etc. Dont worry they will be back.

it is summer, vacation, beach, and olympics. all good so far. enjoy life!

I ride my bike 10-12 hours a week in the summer. There's only so many hours available, something's gotta give. I post a lot less this time of year, lot more in Fall and Winter when it's dark. People are just busier.

Wasn’t it about a year ago that he disappeared for a few months, and we ended up sending him a new light…and it drew him back into the madness? Hmmm, I wonder if he’s holding out again… :smiley:

He’s probably just gone on a summer vacation. Most people get a couple weeks a year, and I know I like to take mine offline.

The comment was doubtless made due to Foy’s sig line: “Just buy what I say and be happy” and not meant to be taken literally.

Post escalation was the major reason I left the Other forum. Thanks to all for sorting this out so quickly, quietly, and reasonably. A perfect example of why it’s the members willingness to hear each other out that makes DM’s unnecessary. Kudos.
