Solarforce L2 or L2i

Hey guys, spent the whole weekend reading about solarforce. Thinking of getting 1, impulse buy - I know.

Should I get this - http://www.solarforce-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=LF&s=41&id=167

Or

solarforce-sales.com with

Will the above work? I shouldn’t need anything else right?

I’ve read L2i is better than L2 but fitting a 18650 in it, you will need spacers + mod.

Geez, I can't stop looking or buying.

My L2i takes an 18650 without any modification or spacers. It may have been the case in the past that it needed these, but not now.

Both are nice, but i think I prefer the slightly fatter tube of the L2i. Mine gets used almost exclusively with 18650s.

I can confirm the L2i fits an 18650 also. I ordered one after Christmas, and it arrived on the 10th. So far I've been impressed with it. Only complaint would be that the rear o ring was dry and pinched. If you get one I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have the L2i and L2 and I like the L2 more, esp. if you're going to use 18650's anyway (the XM-L should run a lot better with 18650). I was surprised how well the 3xAAA's work with a P60 host though when driving an XP-G. So I like both. I don't understand why the L2i costs less. I can fit an 18650 in there if I get the battery lined up correctly, but it is still tighter than I am comfortable with and I have a hard time getting the battery lined up unless I load it from the head end. The 3xAAA carrier is 58mm long compared to 65-68mm for an 18650. It just feels like you're making it work with an 18650, not that it is really designed to work with 18650's.

I wonder if you got your L2i before mine. Here's what my one looks like.

I think mine is the same as yours. I got it a few months ago. Here are some similar pictures.

Strange that, must be manufacturing tolerances or something - they do seem to be the same.

Mine is the exact same as brted's. I love it, however the fit of the 18650 does bother me a bit. Once I get my flat stainless bezel ring instead of the sharp crenelated, I'll be much happier. Its a beautiful an well made light, and as Don said, I really like the feel of the thicker body.

I highly recommend the L2i!

Did any of you modify the spring in any way for the 18650 cell?

Not me.

Ended up buying the L2i. Can't wait for it though I don't have the battery yet

I got the L2i today, took 9 days for delivery..thats pretty awesome from solarforce...still waiting for my batteries.

And my 14500 from DX is yet to be package since 23/1..........arghhhhhhh
