New Maglite Mini Mag 2aaa and 2aa Pro+ ?

So, I was innocently walking around the local sporting goods store after getting my boy a new football helmet when I found myself standing in the flashlight section (how'd that happen?!).

I noticed a 2 AAA LED maglite...hadn't heard that they were upgrading those. Specs say @ 80ish lumens...can't remember the lux, kids where going nuts. Definately an xp-e emitter. Anyways, I haven't been able to find any info on this light...zip on mag's website. I was curious, but not $30 curious....

The other one was the 2AA MiniMaglite Pro+. That one at least does exist on their website. Specs are impressive, at 245L and 5600lux. 2 modes...but no specs on the low mode other than it lasts 27hrs, vs 2h15m for high (which is still pretty good).

I might have to hit up amazon and see if I can get one of each for review unless someone here has any input on them.

First I’ve heard of a XP-E 2xAAA, though they have a 3xAAA XL200 with XP-G. Also I thought the Pro+ wasn’t going to be available at bricks and mortar stores. I think the Low is 25% of High. The Pro+ seems like it will be a great light for non-flashoholics who love Maglites but don’t deserve the low output of past MiniMags.

I have not heard of the 2aaa. Maybe maglite screwed up and released it earlier than they meant to like with the new type of incan bulb.

Pro+ review here on BLF

Never heard of the AAA LED. You must buy one! LOL

I had heard somewhere that a 2aaa and solitare led were going to be introduced end of july/august. What store did you see the 2aaa led maglight Match? I am central east coast and probably have the same stores here also.I will drop 30$ for a 2aaa mag and do a very poor review…but I will try hard though!Rick…or Dick as I’ve been called.

Emitter is definitely not Cree and does not resemble a Rebel. No dome either.

Bad news: the light is single mode. Good news: it is single mode; both lights have excellent tint and throw very well for their size. Focusing the head actually gives you a good range between flood and spot. Beam profile goes from flood (slight rings visible on white-wall hunts) to nearly all hotspot with a slight corona. Eyeballing it, I’d hazard tint is ~5500K, definitely <6000K. The tint has considerably warmer CCT than the 1A (6500K-ish) XM-L in my SB Blaze, but is somewhat cooler than the 3C XM-L I have in a Mag (modded with the ‘Rebel’/deep reflector). Came with a pocket clip and batts, but no holster. The new LED AAA Minis are a good deal, especially when they inevitably get discounted for the 4th-quarter holidays.

edit: bought ’em at $ports @uthority. Serial #’s are both around 1300

Any chance you can post pics of the light along with close ups of the emitter?

I’ll grab my camera, back in a sec.

Hmm…some type of luxeon rebel?

OMG!! What LED is it

How many lumens declare?

what diameter and depth is the reflector?

Any link to the product page on Maglite website?

How much does it costs?

Hate to bring up such an old thread but I just picked up one of the 2aaa mini mags and was thinking of cutting it down and running one 10440. Do you think the led could handle the extra voltage? Seen any other modds to this light?

One or two. Do you want to use the stock led or bump it up to x-lamp territory?

Thinking of just using the stock led. Havent heard of x-lamp.

X-Lamp = Cree XM-L; XR-E; XP-G, etc.

Ahhh. Any threads on changing out the led?

Most of the AAA minimag mods are in Here but you might find others with a AAA minimag search. The simplest would be a resistor mod. I started out by using 7135 chips instead to regulate current. All of my mods are listed in that thread. Many by OldLumens are there too.

Anyone know the thread diamiter and pitch of the tailcap so i can rethread after cutting it down

Is it a Luxeon C?
