Well, what do I do here? Do I give you the good and bad news? Do I just shut up? Might as well go with my experiences.

It needs a new driver. Has HORRIBLE PWM in the low setting. At least my two do. The high brightness is pretty good as is the beam integrity, but it gets nuclear-meltdown hot if left too long on high.

It will not tailstand as delivered, but an O ring around the clicky shroud will pull it back into the tail cap and allow perfect tailstanding.

I am in the process of changing drivers, but there have been some issues. Both of mine do not have indents in the pill to unscrew it, so it’s harder than heck to get out, but I did. And some aftermarket driver springs don’t work correctly in this barrel. They can bend over and short. Have some more drivers on route to get rid of the PWM. Obviously I think enough of the light to try and fix it.

One thing to watch out for: The star is not glued/screwed in but held in place (in mine anyway) with just the push-in white ring. In one of mine, the star (caused by zoom air pressure) lifted away from the pill and overheated and started to smoke. I also have a sipik clone of this light that did the same thing. There are several of my threads kicking around about working on this light.

Here’s one on the similar sipik:

Thanks , Hopefully I can deal with the issues and get it in better working order. Although I am fairly poor at modifying lights. Crying

Maybe you’ll have better luck than me. A couple BLFers got one and it didn’t have the overheating problem so maybe that’s fixed.

Like I said, I really like the light’s potential, and the first two brightness settings are fine. No real bad PWM. It’s bright. Most budget lights have issues; this one maybe a little more than others. I think it would be super if fixed up a bit. Zoom’s okay too, although the silver bezel produces some otherworldly artifacts. Wink

Yes, fishinfool. “Tacticool”. It’s a new word I just learned. Apparently it’s an insult of some kind. Oddly, I just also learned“douchewaffle”, but I’m still trying to figure out what that means.

Oh, wait, there’s a mirror.

I'd like to know what it means too.

I like the color. Still prefer black over it but to ad something that stands out in a collection this would be it

I’ve spotted several lights w/ that color finish recently. I like the looks but don’t care for the zoom function. A C8 or L2 host in that finish would be killer.

That heatsink looks terribly small for a properly driven XML, so there are two scenarios. Either it has under 400 real lumens and it stays touchable, either the driver gives it the real thing and we’ll have it melting the table it sits on.

I mean heck, the STL-V2 gets very hot after 15-20 minutes and it has 5-6 times the heatsink surface compared to this one.

I am not sure what to do with it It needs a driver and emitter change, and I am too sloppy for all that.
