Which one should I get; XML T6 NW or XML U2 CW

So I’m thinking of getting a Crelant 7G5-V2 with collimator head since I just can’t get it out of my mind but I’ve now come to another dilemma.

T6 NW which renders colours better and is brighter to the human eye (than cool white).

or

U2 CW which is 6-7% more efficient and brighter than T6, but is cool white tint.

If you get them both could you do a comparison?

Cool white is most definitely brighter to my eye than neutral white. Same light just switching tints CW is brighter to me.

Really? Oh I thought NW was always perceived as being brighter than CW.

But there’s still the question of colour rendering, or brightness. There’s a thread somewhere which shows the differences of NW and CW.

Edit: here is the link

i have a NW white bc40 x2 18650 and a CW SB blaze x1 18650, now outputs aside, from what i have heard NW is less bright because of more phosphorus compared to its CW counter part, but to the eyes the warmer tint neutral feels brighter than cooler lights, even with lower output. me personally like cool white better, but my neutral bc40 imo has way superior color rendition when it comes to lighting up objects compared to my blaze

Tint preference is a very subjective thing. Sometimes it’s a practical consideration too of course, with certain tints being better suited to particular circumstances for various reasons, but in terms of what the nicest overall color temperature with which to illuminate the average environment is, all anyone can do is make a subjective argument. Here’s mine:

There’s no doubt that colour can affect mood. Some people are more sensitive to this than others, and I happen to be just that sort of person. I typically feel happier on a sunny day that I do on an overcast day, and it’s not just because I associate sunny days with fun outdoor activities, but because I find the warmer colour of light more relaxing (colour temperature is higher on an overcast day). This is reflected in my selection of bulbs for home lighting. I use warm white CFLs exclusively. Perhaps this is also partly because, like a lot of people, I became accustomed to the light provided by the typical incandescent globe, but the fact remains that I simply find it to be a cosier, more homely sort of illumination.

None of this need necessarily translate into a tint preference in the context of flashlights, and in fact it doesn’t to anywhere near the same degree, probably mostly because relying on such a mode of illumination is typically only a temporary affair. But for me, the preference is indeed still present to at least some degree, and is reinforced by the superior colour reproduction of a warmer tint. This is especially true outdoors where the greens look so much more vibrantly green.

Finally, neutral (what I consider warm enough) tints aren’t a huge trade-off in terms of output. If they were it might be a somewhat different story. What you gain is worth the small amount that you lose. At least that’s how I see it anyway.

In case I didn’t make it ridiculously obvious, I’d go for NW!

I voted cw, your looking at a thrower, then adding a collimator head for increased throw, I would say output is everything in this choice.

That aside, I do like nw tints, but I’m still on brightest is best mode, I’ve not yet become refined enough to worry about tints too much

I think that this setup is meant to be bright as possible so if go U2. If it were an edc smaller light I’d go NW hands down. But with that light, I’d milk every lumen out of it:)

What Gords said.
It’s a thrower, so put out the most you can.
I love NW in an EDC, bushwalking or around a garden, but I wouldn’t sacrifice 6-7% output for it if I wanted throw.

I typically prefer neutral tints but this is only made for throwing (only has medium and high mode) so go for cool white to get the maximum lumens. While you are at it, take out the front lens too to get the most out of it.

I prefer neutral tint in everything except throwers.

It’s not really max lumens which makes CW better in a throwing light but contrast. The white diff to black(darkness/shadow) makes objects stand out better. Since throwers are used more often to identify rather than just look at things, the contrast is more functional than pleasant color rendition.

The problem with CW in a thrower is that it glares off impurities (esp precipitation) in the air.

Pulled the trigger on the cool white.
Now I play the waiting game again… does intl-outdoors use china post? or a faster service?

Edit: just found this: Australia/New Zeland————————15-18 working days

Standard Hong Kong Post airmail, or if your order is over $80 (or you pay an extra $2), Hong Kong Post registered airmail.

My last IO order came from Singapore though (probably direct from a supplier).

In any case, they’ve always arrived within 2 weeks.

hello, may i ask what does NW and CW mean???thank you !
I’m a freshman

NW = neutral white tint (a more yellow looking tint which renders colours better)

CW = cool white tint (a more white looking tint which blinds people better)

thank you!! got it!!
anyway, leave the color effect behind,i would choose U2:(from flashlightwiki)

I just looked on e-bay to see what a Crelant 7G5-V2 actually is. And I would have to say, that is some flashlight! You’ll be able to reach out and touch someone with that.

If anybody else wants one, here it is from a US seller, with the Collimator head package deal.
