Host for 26650 battery?

Anyone know where I can get a host for a 26650 battery that takes P60 dropins? Thanks.

Bob C.

Hope you are prepared to spend silly money. Take a look at Fivemega's stuff on CPF. Alternatively, get some plumbing pipe and use D cell Maglites. And get a P60 head machined up. The usual incredibly expensive suspects will sell you some - Leef and the ilk. Or speak to someone with a machine shop to make you one. There is at least one person around here who might possibly be prepared to do it for a fee.

If you can find somewhere that can sell us such things for sensible money, I'm probably not the only one who wants to know. Even something that can take 32600s and isn't a Maglite would be interesting. KD will sell you the cells at about $15 a shot.

There is a non-budget host which is called Torchlite Shooter which takes 26650 cells. http://www.gigainternational.com/Torchlite-Shooter-DIYspec.htm

When you call giga there's no one home. I tried that :) Anyone have details for all the measurements and thread pitches to make bar stock into a host? I'll ask on CPF as well. I do have a friend for whom this would be child's play.

Who's Leef? This is the first I've heard of 32600 cells (drool) FM's not sure when or if he'll have any hosts available.

Any chance that this would take a 32600? :

....and then swap the star and driver, or maybe a sst50 direct drive?

I doubt it. Most 3AAA lights I have are less than 25mm in internal diameter so wouldn't take a C let alone a D. The Solarforce L2i is 24mm ID.

they're describing it as a 3aa?

Some people's reading compreshension skills are obviously better than mine. I saw 3A and assumed AAA. Memo to self:

Pay more attention when reading.

If 3AAA needs 24mm ID, then 3AA should need roughly 14/10x24mm which means around 33.6mm ID which means a 25500 will definitely fit (C cells are the same length as AAs) and a 32600 might fit. The KD 32600s are longer than 60mm, nearer 63mm so may be too long.

I've had two of these cells for a couple of years and they are OK.

Even more important, anyone know if the light mentioned above will take a P60 drop-in? This could be the perfect answer to my needs! Thanks, guys!

no this flashlight won't take p60 drop-ins

Any idea if the front threads are $urefire compatible - any size?

uh, its clearly got a perfect pill (with BETTER heat sinking than p60) for an XM-L swap.

i would just use the pill. either way the light is gonna have good run time, AA or 32600.

get it and find out if it works. thats what were here for. if someone doesnt have it, its your (or my) job to buy it and experiement.

I've got a couple of 3xAAA lights but the runtime has always annoyed me, it's just a silly choice of battery. What makes it worse is there is a NiMH cell that would fit, but obviously it doesn't have the voltage - 5/4 Sub-C (c.22.5mm x 50mm).

I wonder if we will ever get Li-ions in the same range of sizes as NiMH's.

I'd use it with the biggest Lion cell that would fit. But I need a neutral - warm light and am thinking multi-emitter. I don't have the chops to solder LEDs.

4sevens just announced a flashlight with 26650 (not a Host only)

MAELSTROM S12

Take a look at their site

I was watching a Goinggear.com YouTube video yesterday where the owner (or there abouts) of 4Sevens referred to a 26650 as a proprietary battery...lols

The S12 looks seriously nice, but sadly not very budgety.

Have you seen the silly gold plated copper version? http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=297_406&products_id=2584

I imagine it will sell well on CPF, after all it costs more, but isn't actually better. Heavier and doesn't actually conduct as well (according to the head honcho)

Hi pook

have you tried a 18500 that's what i have been using in a light that takes 3xAAA in a round holder

Yeah, no go on mine almost 10mm too long.

For $150 ??? I'll whittle one from petrified alligator dung before I shell out that much just for an oversized body.
