New light addict here...

Hello to all!

I was recently searching around for an LED headlamp for my other addiction (RC helicopters - wanted it to fly at night) and was trying shops like REI and Sierra Trading Post and was shocked at how much they wanted for head lmps. I then found a model, and found it for less on amazon. However, I read reviews and stumbled upon a user touting a headlamp on banggood.com. It was at that moment I’d discovered budget lights. My first order included an xM-L T6 (claimed) 502b and headlamp, as well as 3 ultrafire 3000mah li-ion cells.

I was super excited t find out the 502b was as bright on low as my Rayovak 160lm light from Home depot (super great deal @ $25 - not!). I was also surprised that the headlamp on 1s2p li-ion was as bright on low as the 502 on mid. The head lmp is way brighter and therin lies my first ? How reliable is Banggood? If they say I get T6 bin, is that what I get? I understand one light might be driven harder than the other.

In the 2 weeks I’ve bee lurking here, I’ve ordered up another T6 zoomable, a KD C8, some more 18650 cells and have asked the wife for a Sky ray king for my bday. I think i may have a problem!

I really like flashlights before, but thought they were too high priced… Now I can endulge!

Thanks to the community for getting me hooked.

Welcome to the forum, cullen. I can’t remember who, off hand, but there is at least one other member here who is heavely into RC helicopters. My understanding is they are very hard to fly generally, but to do it at night must really take some skill.

Welcome to BLF! You'll love being here! :)

So true! I can identify at least two problems: You don't have any keychain light or any light with moonlight mode. ;)

Welcome to the insanity, Cullen!

Welcome to the family, Cullen! I think you fit right in. ;)

Welcome to BLF! I hope you stick around. :)

Nice to have you here.

BTW: try to stay away from ultrafire cells, they are often of substandard quality (recycled)

f…k. You have the same disease as me. :frowning:

Yeah, the ultrafires were incuded and I ordered before finding BLF. So far, they run both lights and don’t heat up, but i live in the burbs and have yet to truly try out either light. I did try the headlamp/rc heli thing, it didn’t go well. I track my models w/ my eyes rather than my head. The lamp I got is a thrower, maybe a mod would help… An OP reflector?

The helis are hard to fly at first, but I cought on quick and made lots of progress in 3 short years. It’s alot of fun!

BTW: thanks to this site I als picked up a Ganzo g710 and look forward to trying my 1st budget knife.

Just remembered, it was Old4570 who is into RC helicopters.

I know there is one other member who had mounted a Skyray King on one. It looked really cool.

Welcome Cullen! You'll enjoy it here! (Although you may want to lock down your wallet and pre-plan some excuses to give the wife.)

Welcome to BLF. We like to light up the yard with everything we have for helicopter flying time. Great fun.

Welcome to BLF, Cullen. I had a rc helicopter for awhile.... turned out to be the most expensive 30sec flight of my life!

This is what I plan to use the sky Ray king for…

Who the heck was flying that thing? Anakin Skywalker? My sons thought that was about as cool a video as they’ve ever seen.

BTW, cullen, if you copy the video’s address, then paste it in the box that pops up after you hit the film button (the 6th from the left; right under the word “comment”) you can have the video in the post instead of a link. I usually go with 620 x 480 for the size.

Like this.

I only bring it up because it took me forever to figure it out.

You know, I tried that, but had issues on my cell phone. Haven’t experienced similar issues on other forums… Fixed from PC

That wasTim jones. He’s good, obviously. Night flying is quite a rush! Hope they Sky Ray can keep up w/ the spot lights…
