xeno e03, balder hd-1, or something else?

so i am very likely to get another light, i have a bc40, a blaze, and now i want a small pocket/keychain rocket. I have looked into 2 two lights listed, and have always wanted/ leaned towards the e03, but before i get it is there other alternatives i should look/consider at before i plunge?

thanks

From what I’ve been reading the balder-hd1 seems a good buy but some people commented on the annoying interface.

Balder SE-1 3C XML .

Just Do It .

Not really familiar with the Balder, but I read a nice review of the Xeno on CPF by “selfbuilt”, along with the entire thread, and it sounds like an awesome light so thats what I went with. The only real complaint was some people had problems with the switch causing some flickering. But the new version of the light resolved that problem with a new switch and other improvements as well. It’s supposed to be an awesome bang for the buck, and on high with a 14500 is said to be ridiculously bright.

i have 3 xeno e03 without any problem so far ,also the new version is with new switch.

It's nice of you to join us, kbreeze!

Problem solved. Thanks. Goodbye. Have a nice day.

I'm glad you found a solution. :)

Still don't know what was wrong in the first place, but at least you're being civil about it. ;)

xeno e03 it is, i was going to get it off EDC+, with shipping its 2 bucks more than hkequipment, but i can get it within a day or 2. but then the dreaded taxes, i live in CA (seller in cali), so i ordered off hkequip, longer shipping, but i am not in a big hurry soooo, lol

good choice!

i owned this light too .. it is maybe the total bestseller (among non-budget brands) within the flashaholics community, apart from the ground-winning Eagletac D-series. Thousands copies have been sold and it continues to be the only well-selling item in the Xeno catalog.

People with a collection of good 1xAA lights probably dont use their E03 as EDC anymore (and at some point begin to sell off their copies) because other 1xAA lights have their own virtues, but it is well-built lumens monster:

you get 20mins runtime on High-mode (460lm, 14500) with severe dimming effect. brightness is not stabilized. 10m water dunk resistance. amazing!!

haha thanks man, i will be using this mostly on regular old AA batteries, then slip in some 14500 for those times when you just need to show off XD

The Xeno E03 is beautifully made - very good knurling/anodizing/machining/fit and finish. The only downside is a lack of a truly low mode (on 14500). It’s still rather bright on UL (ultralow) mode. The Balder on the other hand is quite a bit smaller (cute), and the power level spacing is more useful. The UI might not be to many people’s liking though…. Pretty much a toss-up as to which one I like more.

Exactly my thoughts. It depends on what your needs/wants are as to what would be the best choice. Both are good products with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. Both are good looking in their own way. I like the UI of the Xeno better, but I also love the small size and real low on 14500 with the HD-1.

Lol, thanks!

heheh now i want one of those too, this one to actually EDC, i like how it has a pocket clip. of they ever update it to U2 i will get one

not that the E03 is bad, (will be a showoff light), but now i see how much more useful a clip will make it, and the hd is too small

Look into pocket clips for fenix. I’m using one for e03. Read up “”here”:https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/4416”. Have fun guys.

that looks interesting, thanks for the link!
