18650 Quick Question

Hi All,

Firstly darn you lot @ BLF, just ordered a zoomy- definately got the bug :stuck_out_tongue:

Been reading up on these batteries and have a fair understanding, but I still need to clarify a few points and hope you can answer them.

I have some unprotected 18650’s from my laptop battery. I charged to 4.2V they hold that fine. I ‘think’ I understand the dangers of unprotected cells and keep a log to keep on top of things.

I just wanted to know how far can they be discharged before needing a charge. I took one down to 3.5v and the light was dimmed but still going.

So for my reference what voltage should a healthy battery be ‘normally’ discharged to?
how far can you discharge a battery under ‘exceptional circumstances’ and still charge and put back in service?

I have found links to quality protected cells in BLF that will be my next investment as these laptop ones are not very high capacity and was just to get me going.

edit: It bounced back to 3.6v after resting for about 10mins.

Sal

If a cell goes below 2.5 V, get rid of it.
