Best LED bulbs I've found

So if you’re looking for a nice LED replacement, and you don’t want to spend $30+ per unit, this is the bulb for you!

I have 10 of them around the house in my highest usage locations.

First, ignore the label where it says “40 watt replacement”. This is truly one of those rare events where a manufacturer has underestimated the performance of their product. This bulb will match brightness in a side by side comparison of a 75 watt bulb NO PROBLEM.

- It’s DIMMABLE!

- It has NO STARTUP LAG!

- It doesn’t have the 60hz “flicker” (looks just like bad PWM) that some of the other cheap bulbs have.

- The color is a nice neutral white, it’s perfect!

- Build quality is SOLID, at least double as heavy as the next closest comparable bulb I’ve purchased.

This bulb is nice.

As a comparison, I have purchased approximately 14 different led bulbs from DX, and none have even come close to comparing with this on ANY level. The very best of the DX bulbs was this one , but it’s about the same price, it’s not quite as bright, and it’s not dimmable.

Hope this helps your future decisions!

I have one of those in my entry stairwell, and I agree with your rec.

The bigger brighter brother is currently residing in wifey's reading lamp. My only gripe is that it doesn't dim quite as low as its incan counterpart for nightlight duty.

So this bulb works with an electronic dimmer?I wonder if they would work in my ceiling fan?

I had one of those. I ended up taking it apart. :P Curiosity killed the lightbulb.

And? Who’s LEDs were in there?

Truthfully, I'm not sure. I know I still have the LED board around here somewhere. I will try to find it this weekend.

Edit: I believe this was the board from that one but I'm not quite sure. (I have taken apart 5 or 6 of them)

Note: I trimmed it down to fit in a Maglite but I didn't do that mod because I used the heatsink with a XM-L instead.

Those look to be CREE-like objects.

thanks , been meaning to try led

XP-E?

From what I can see from the photo that is what I would guess. Saw a bunch of bulbs claiming to use XP-E LEDs, I think I worked it out as being abut $2 per LED if you pulled them apart? Will see if I can find a link.

EDIT: seems there are quite a few bulbs using XPE

Ignore my earlier remark about $2 per LED, more like $3 each and you have to order 4 or so first.

For GU10 I have been really impressed with this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/gu10-3000k-4w-360-lumen-cree-xpe-q2-4-led-warm-white-light-bulb-85-265v-72257

Have you measured the power consumption from these bulbs?
If they really are equivalent to a 75W bulb they should consume a lot more than 7.5W.

Can somebody recommend me “equivalent to 80-100W” unidirectional LED bulbs (e27 socket, warm white)

Yes, read my thread: My adventures in LED home lighting

Something in the 15-18W range should do nicely. A good rule of thumb is an incandescent is effectively 10 lumens per watt. Most descent LED bulbs are effectively 50-60 lumens/watt and getting better.

You will need a 15 watt LED bulb to truly replace a 75 watt incandescent. My house has over 300 bulbs… all LED now. I have tested just about everything out there… oh, the pain, SOOOO much lies and crap…

looks alot like these. World’s first 100 watt equivalent LED replacement bulb

and here’s another weaker type: http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-globe/9-watt-360-degree-a19-globe-bulb/883/

Power meters have gotten cheap, here’s an old familiar one on closeout: Kill A Watt™, P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Realtime power... at MacSales.com

+ 1 vote with ChiggerPepi I just pulled a Sylvania 40w equivalent led bulb and replaced with Utlitech bulb much better color rendition and brighter

newbility, tell me more about that light!

Are there any acceptable “budget” warm white LED bulbs to replace 60W ones?
