Polished SR King - Not Gold

Finally took this host to the polish wheel. And chopped a few bits here and there. The grip is
is even better and you can see there’s a small amount of cleanup left. Im going to keep the contours the same as its now square battery tube and no sharp edges. Some gold is left in between the fins and should polish up to a glass finish. I think i’ll let it wear a bit close to whats in the pictures and
then spray a few coats of protective matte finish for the bare aluminium. This SRK was supposed to
receive!! a few coats of ceramic matte black coating but i really didn’t expect to get these results.
I’ll either make one or pick one up from Ric and save me some skin…

Its a pretty easy DIY for anyone interested. I would advise a dremell at the very least and
plenty of patience and few hours of free time. Oh, 1000 grit paper makes it easy work
in between the heat sink fins. Don’t forget to field strip your light before starting and clean it well.

Looks nice darkside, for the areas between the fins try aircraft remover on them. It's strong stuff and will make short work of it.I would like to see the final result,I might do it to mine.

DA - Is that industrial grade stripper? Whats the brand name or company?
I have a few very strong strippers that will some times cause pitting…
The SR King finish is relatively soft and comes off after a few turns on a polish wheel.
The fins do require patience…

If you can get me the name of this stuff it should make very short work from gold to
a glass polish.
Thank You

Looks good! Chrome plating would look nice on it.

This is made by rustoleum and can be bought at wal-mart in the automotive department.I used this to strip anno off a few lights and a black sunwayman clip and the finish was tough as nails.I read the back and it states that the stripper will not corrode common metals under normal exposure time, hope that helps darkside.

Looks cool! Can't wait to see the finished product.

on my way to Walmart…
