New Crelant 2AA

Int’l Outdoor’s site is up again! And the new 2AA Crelant V21A looks fantastic (IMHO)
I just wonder whether it’s possible to extract 450 lumens from just 2AA’s (14500’s not supported). Seems a little optimistic to me. I’d buy one just for the looks, tho…. 0:)

I think it’s possible. 2AA, that’s 2.4V and you can easily pull 2A from good rechargeables.

So 1A at little over 3V seems easy. But I’m no AA-man.

It is possible. Match was able to get 600 lumens out of 2 AAs, however I doubt that crelant was able to do what match did.

Yeah!!

It looks very good.

And not very expensive.

I wonder if the electronics are as efficient as a fenix LD20 or a JetBeam BA20…. I mean: constant brightness, current increase as the voltage decrease…. etc

Wow, great light and great price :open_mouth:

As soon as there is a review on that, my bro might get it!

intl-O states 1A draw on high. even if that’s LED current it still wouldn’t achieve 450 LED lumens even on U2.

if that’s tailcap current then even less so

the 1:46 burn time on HIGH suggests that it’s around 250 lumens OTF

the quark x aa2 has 400 lumens for 3mins then 280 after stepdown, burns through eneloops in 1:15

The quark x aa2 is a beast.

I’d get one, as long as somebody explains how the modes work? I mean, does it always start on high like the Balders and are modes changed via twisting the head or clicking…

I'm curious about the mode switching as well.

If it uses the tailcap forward clicky for mode switching I guess it's a no-go for me. Otherwise the light looks very appealing...

Yes, Hank can we please have more info on the Crelant 2AA ?

I asked Hank about it and he told me that the modes are switched with the tailcap clicky.

Mode order is high-medium-low and it has memory.

Why are 14500 not supported? Working voltage 0 - 4.2v, so 1 cell, 1 dummy gives the working voltage. I’m confused.

That said, its not like I’ll buy one, I have an edc 18650 host on the way and a 2.6a 3 mode/u2 emmitter to go in it.

I guess people would most likely stick two of them in it and fry it, the concept of a dummy cell would be hard to convey to the end user...

Looked at my lights and I don’t have that many AA based lights, just a whole bunch of 18650s.

This would make a pretty good emergency/loaner/in-car light. It’s kind of unfortunate that it’s not available in NW. Having said that though, the tint fedback on U2 XM-Ls are that they come out white-white rather than green-white.

If it doesn’t come out in NW, I may have to break that rule I set myself of to no longer buy CW tinted lights.

Just needs a lower low and neutral tint in my book. Looks very nice for the price.

Sorry for the noob question, is there any way that you can get rid of the memory function? I’m very fond of Balder’s way of doing things - high-med-low and no memory, always starts on high.

Wasn’t this originally priced at around US$30? Now I see it at US$39.80. At the new price, it doesn’t look as good.

Yes I can confirm this, it was $30.50 or something like that.

Thanks for confirming. I think I might just get a couple of Sunwayman R20A’s instead. Cheaper, longer run times and I think I finally found a strobe pattern that I actually like.
