In Stock: "Custom" N-Light ST50. Ingenuous UI, Slim 18650 XML Flashlight. 600 lumens

The N-Light ST50 is a pretty well known flashlight for BLFers but I thought it could use some improving. After many many months and many many samples I have gotten it down and I’m really happy with the results. A great truck/car light or night stand light. Easy access to High (600 lumens) and low (3 lumens) without second guessing what mode you left it on last. Direct access to both modes easily. I’m really liking this light after the changes I made to it. Solid well built flashlight. I think everyone needs one of these as a night stand or truck/car light

The original models come with all the blinky strobe modes and I had them removed. I thought up my own UI that involves 2 mode groups accessed by twisting/untwisting the head. With the head tight it always begins in 3 lumens low mode and w/ the forward clicky you can scroll to the 150 lumen High mode. With the head loosened it has 1 mode only which is the 600 lumens turbo mode. With this setup you can twist/untwist the head and always know what mode you’re going to get so there’s no blinding yourself and there’s no lack of light output when you turn it on. You know for certain what you’re getting which is what I really like.

To sum it up, I think this flashlight is a MUST HAVE especially with this UI. Build quality A+

Also BLFers please please please Like our Facebook page because we will be giving away plenty of flashlights!

N-Light ST50 in CW/NW/WW

Sounds nice but I would like to ask, is the PWM rate high or is it a Current Controlled light?

Current controlled on all modes

Very nice, thank you!

quick thoughts:

+ on Med, there seems to be pulsating ("PWM"-like behavior), see the video:

+ UI is nice with a tactical forward clicky on Turbo mode

+ for what it is and for what it does, it is an unnecessary heavy light. build quality may be nice but it has not been optimized for a specific design goal, e.g. being compact and light, or EDC.

+ tint options are nice

+ price is very good

+ it is supposed to be a sort of tactical light but has no strobe wtf

+ looks are good, build quality seems good, but overall a nothing-special-light

+ are there any reviews with tests and measurements and beamshots?

Nice job on the UI mods !

Is there any difference of output using a single cell vs. two cells?

Not sure about PWM I’d have to ask them but it is not suppose dto have PWM.

There’s a fine line between being light and feeling cheap. In all honestly the Spark SL6 is a good example of this, it’s super super light weight but when I hold it, it feels fragile, it feels cheap and poor quality. The SL6 is a very well engineered light that can easily take a beating but when I pick it up, it doesn’t feel like it’s from a top quality brand, it’s just too light. A flashlight needs some weight to it so that it feels reliable but also has the performance to back it up

I’m also looking for reviewers right now, Foy maybe?

Chicago, same performance on 2 CR123s

Foy, Johnnymac, and _the_ all do amazing reviews.

This is not a new light, even though the UI on Jake's version is. There have been many discussions on this light here, on CPF and on MTBR and Bike Forums. Personally, I think it is a great light and would highly recommend it.

As far as reviews go, I agree wholeheartedly that it would be great to see what JohnnyMac or Foy think of this light.

First of all, I congratulate Jake25 for making a good light even better. I really like the fact that it starts on low, or turbo (when the head is loosened).

I do however have TWO major complaints:

  1. On the youtube video you use what seems to be an Xtar 18700 battery, but there’ no way I could get that battery to fit on my flashlight and actually turn on. Even with the shortest of all my protected 18650s, I have 12, I worry about applying way too much pressure on the battery to get the flashlight to actually turn on.

2. When I switch to high mode, not turbo, I get a constant, awful flickering. I can’t call it pwm because it is closer to strobe. Of all my more than 30 flashlights, I have never noticed pwm, even on the ones notoriously known for having low pwm.

I hope that these 2 issues only apply to my sample because it is a great flashlight that I want to own.

Thank you

Hey I posted something on that CPF thread. Now i don’t even remember that the ST50 is 7075. LOL! (I am getting old)

I’m actually discontinuing the Nlight ST50 due to QA issues so as a reminder to anyone who wants to bump this thread, don’t

Betweenrides, it doesn't have the same mode group. It really is more of a clone of this light.

I agree, Scaru. I doubt it's the same light. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/1532?page=71#comment-253982

Bwolcott the UI will live in but not in the Nlight
