Review: Condor Bushlore fixed blade camping knife

This is a Bushlore fixed blade knife made by Condor.

Blade length is about 4.24” and overall length is about 9.5”. It has a full tang and the spine is about .125”.

I comes with a beautiful leather case. I’ve included the Enlan EL-01D and the SRM 909 for size comparisions.

The steel is high carbon for a longer lasting edge (does require wiping however). Out of the box it was only moderately sharp. I sharpened it to hair shaving sharp however.

The handle is walnut, it has a hold for a lanyard. I did a brief test out in the backyard regarding it’s ability to split wood while being battoned. No problems there.

This knife was purchased here in the U.S. for $33 including shipping.

It has a scandi grind and some sort of blade lamination over the non-grind part…presumable to help prevent rust.

The ergonomics of the handle are good. I touched it up a bit with a light wipe of olive oil.

You can see the Condor name embossed on one side of the blade with El Salvador on the other side.

This knife seems to be a very good deal for the price.

This site is just frustrating when it comes to attaching pictures.

If anyone can fix or tell me how to fix this photo and bring it more in line I would appreciate it.

Something has changed recently…including no working spell check.

Your picture has very wide white borders left and right, it's not the BLF picture management... it's the picture itself being this small. Try to crop it in a picture manipulation program.... but the resolution is also kind of low. Are you sure that you took the picture itself and not some thumbnail or preview?

I cropped it but it seems to bring the white borders with it. I don’t know what else to do.

Maybe it's that picture service you use? Maybe they use a fixed aspect ratio background as a template, because they also do photo books?.... I'm not sure.

I crop images with a free program, IrfanView.

It's not the best image editing software but it's quick and gets the job done.

Do you want it like this?

Looks like a nice simple little knife but it also looks like you have been trying to cut cinder blocks with it. LOL

The Condors are good bang for the buck.

They have a few that are a bit “Tacti-Cool” for my taste, but their Camp knives are first rate.

Like a big, thick, full-tanged Mora.

The Axes are nice, too.

My only complaint with them seems to be the same as yours. They could do a better job with out of the box sharpness.

Easy to fix, though.

Thanks Juhha!

JohnnyMac, yes, it does look like that. The steel is hard and it wasn’t sharp enough so I went overboard on the rough stage. I did use the fine stone and stropped it but I’ll go back and do more in that regard.

I just wanted to get it hair shaving sharp and I eventually did! I also used it as a wedge and battoned it to split a piece of wood.

The Scandi grind also means there is a larger ground area to reflect edges.

It also has a large grey laminated area of the blade which I have now mostly managed to sand off. It looks better to me without it.

I’m going to do some more polishing over time but I may attach another newer photo now so that you can see the changes.

Thanks very much! Sticky’d.
