Looking for **16mm** orange tailcap boots

That’s right. Not the more common 14mm ones, which are much easier to find, even in orange.

Specifically, I’m looking for ones that have a full-sized inner nipple to cover all the bases (they can be trimmed or removed to suit, but it’s much harder to add one).

This is foy’s fault (isn’t everything?). He’s always brandishing his sexy Solarforce lights around with orange tails cap boots (among other colours) and so I’ve subsequently decided that orange is the new black (and the new green too). But I just can’t seem to find orange 16mm ones in particular in stock anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated Smile

Forget to mention, I found some at shiningbeam, but I suspect shipping to Australia is going to be prohibitively expensive given the value of the actual item, and there’s no way to tell if nipples are present (unless I email them I guess).

One bump, for great orange tailcap boot justice, then I shall let this thread fade into obscurity…

*edit: didn’t see you already have found shiningbeam. Have you asked for a quote on shipping?

I’ve emailed them to find out what sized nipple they have inside them (if any) and to get a quote for postage to AU. It might fall through for one or both of 2 possible reasons, so I’m still looking for another source.

Sorry, the color blindness kicked in.

If your into lotteries heres another. They advertise 14mm but could be 18mm.

Been having some fun with this. I found these at DD, but they want $3.39 for just one. It’s expensive, but when you consider that one piece necessarily has a minimum postage cost factored into the price, it’s not really outrageous. Yeah, you can get packets of 10 tail cap boots for only a couple of bucks, but I doubt that it costs any more to send 10 than it does to send 1. However, if I want to buy 10 from DD, it’s going to cost me about $33. That is outrageous. They have no facility to work out a new price.

I spent about half an hour trying to get one of their customer service reps to understand the issue. My main point was that when a customer decides to order a bulk lot, there’s usually a deal to be made. The customer agrees to purchase more than one, and the seller agrees to at least a small reduction in their profit margin per piece. But in this case, DD will be making more per piece on a bulk order, even with the 10% discount I was eventually offered, because again, I seriously doubt that it will cost more to send 10 than to send just one, because they are tiny and weigh next to nothing.

Having no success with customer service reps, I tried a wholesale enquiry, and was quoted $3.16 per piece. That’s still $31.60 for 10, which is still beyond absurd. They are still trying to make more money per piece on a bulk order, and I’m still trying to get them to understand that.

Why am I bothering with all this? Well, because I’m a little invested in the persistent cheekiness behind it all now, and I’m kinda enjoying it. Maybe I’ll finally get through to someone who might consider making up a new listing for packets of 10.

I just got some of the SB 14mm and they had full nipples on the underside over the switch (easy to cut, if needed). However, they are not GID like the orange cap that came on my Skyray SR5.

I can’t imagine standard postage on almost no weight would be anywhere close to those obscene DD prices. My whole parts order was $1.98 postage for first class + something small for packaging.

These are 17,4mm but I think that this is a total diameter. You should give it a try, it’s just 1,69

It’s a good find – hopefully the in stock notice feature works.

EDIT: New place looks GTG, too!

It seems that there are a lot of those but badly marked. This is the same situation as on the DX – 14mm in header but description and photo of 17,6mm

Lightscastle is here on the forum I think. You may ask him

Just broke out the calipers, my 14mm from SB is about 17.6 outer diameter, so I’d guess the 16mm is larger still.
