tell me I made a good choise?

I have been getting into the muliple AA lights lately using LSD cells.I have a few 2 AA lights(Shiningbeam spark, caveman…ect.)but the Jetbeam PA40 really did me in.What a great light!Well, I have a very good paycheck coming and have had my eye on the Fenix TK41.Off work today with my son and I broke down and ordered one from Batteryjunction this morining.I have read Foys review but, is this light really that good to deserve the 129.00$ price tag?I just need someone to justify what I spent…it’s worth it, right?-Rick

I suppose it’s worth it if you like it yourself; it’s a fenix after all. 8AA is getting to the point of ridiculous IMO.

It's a nice light but I would much prefer a more powerful light if using that many AAs, infact I would bet that my OL 1D is brighter than it with just 4AAs. Either way what matters is if it worth it for you.

The light you bought is awesome. With 8 Eneloops, you can run the light for 2 hours on turbo, 8 hours on high, a day on medium, or 10 days on low.

It’s a safe chemistry (Alkaline or NiMh), Eneloops hold there charge for well over a year and you don’t have to worry about the dangers associated with Li-Ion chemistry. You can leave that light in your house, in the car, wherever you want and not have to think twice about it.

The light puts out 850 Lumens AND throws 58kCd. That means it’s a thrower that still dumps out a ton of usable spill. You can’t really go wrong with this light. It’s built like a tank and will probably last you the rest of your life. The whole point of running the light with 8AA is so that it stays in regulation with Alkaline or NiMh. The battery carrier is top-notch.

You made a great choice and you’ll be very happy with it. You are absolutely going to LOVE that light!

Congrats on your purchase of a very well-made light !

Thanks Rezoution for helping to enable my “sickness”. I did things backwards and started out with LIion flashlights when I returned to this hobby.I’m now getting into AA lights and have found the new to me LSD cells(eneloope) really are impressive with the modern lights. As I said…the Jetbeam PA40 really sold me on the multiple AA plateform.I like the runtime, and not having to worry about battery voltage when I am camping.(or partying at the cabin).Besides…my neighbor just picked me up two ten-packs of eneloops from Costco’s this weekend…need a place to store them!

I’m actually looking to get rid of my Trustfire 3T6 and pick up a TK41. The 3T6 is the only “series” multi Li-Ion that I have and I really want to get rid of it now… I just can’t buy the TK41 until I dump the 3T6.

Why get rid of a 3t6? It’s the brightest 4AA on the market.

You’re going to really like this light. Made very well and some heft to it A good thrower. Love my TK41 but been playing with my other lights. The TK41 was my 1st LED purchase, you made a good choice.

TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple XM-L T6 5-Modes Memory LED Flashlight (3x18650)

I’ve tried it running AA NiMh batteries. It’s not so hot.

You probably wouldn’t want to sell it once you’ve tried 4 x eneloops.

uh, it’s as bright on nihm as lithiums. no other 4aa light even comes close, except maybe the J12.

I don’t want to junk this guys thread up with 3T6 talk but I’ve tried it with Eneloops. It’s not nearly as bright (vs 3x Li-Ion), has to pull over 4 amps from the Eneloops, and the run time is terrible. Also, I had issues with it flickering on MED when using AA instead of 18650s. I’d have to make a nice shim tube to test it properly though since I just had the batteries rattling around inside it.

Is there a link to someone trying this? I see T-Mart has a 3T6 rather cheap.

No, it’s not. The Eneloops sag and the driver can’t keep up with the Vf required to have the same brightness levels as when you’re using 3x 18650 at 12ish V. It’s not just me that disagrees with you either. My Chinese light meter does too.

I recall it was massively bright with no obvious difference from lith. In any case it’s still brightest 4aa light, and there’s still med/low for those who can’t handle its awesomeness.

I see why your post count is so high.

Now I think I have to buy one after reading that. But I already have a TK40 which I love. Fenix makes great lights!

I’m not sure if you saw or not but they have newer Eneloops out now. They are 2500mAh instead of 2000mAh. The downside is that they are more expensive, don’t hold a charge as long (75% after 1 year instead of 3), and can’t be recharged as many times (500 vs 1500). I think they call them DoubleX or XX or something like that.

Sure, it’s from dealing with folks who have trouble grasping the point.

Hmmm, what will you do with your TK40 if you buy the TK41?
