Basically, my birthday is coming up in February, I’m planning on adding a couple of lights, namely, a thrower, a multi emitter and a host kit.

The obvious choices are:-

Hd2010

Skyray king

Something from cngq’s OEM host range, possibly this:-

But has anyone tried the sst-50 light, I’m kind of finding the idea of another xm-l light a little meh tbh.

Why not buy it and put a XM-L U3 in it on a copper star. :D

If I was doing that, I may as well get an hd2010 and save $20…

Well, I don’t have this light, but I’ve given up on SST-50s.

A friend had the best and hardest driven SST-50 light, the Olight M31 Triton, pushing out a no-joke 800 lumens out the front glass. It has a neutralish tint or even somewhat warm, but anything down from that (top quality, driver, parts, and price) is going to be less.

This may be okay, but it wouldn’t upstage a standard XM-L T6. They are usually like 540 lumens otf with one or two cells, and the heat/size issue may get in the way. In the end, you’d have a light that would be another toy, but not a true performer by today’s standards.

I believe it was 2100 who was saying that its just on paper where these SST-50s hit 1,200 lumens at 5.5 amps. And what are the odds that this one is driven anywhere close to that hard? I just hear so little praise on these with the XM-Ls being out, but if you have any doubt that the HD2010 will impress, worry not.

Nonetheless, I can relate to being tired of becoming the owner of yet more XM-Ls. I want something new! On the other hand, a part of me wants to tell you to try this for our sakes!

Thanks for the replies guys, you’ve really just reinforced what I was thinking, it doesn’t hurt to ask though.

So, I’ll stick to the hd2010, I did see the solarstorm 5t6 at lightmalls for
£45.30, which tickled my fancy, just because its a bit different to a king. Just need to find the 57mm head OEM host I had been considering, along with a u2/u3 and sst driver……
