Whelp, I let my lovely wife and son take a few of my flashlights on a Cub Scout overnight camping trip, (I had to work) and I ended up receiving a light back that wasn't as expected.
This is it, a "broiled" UltraFire 501B SSC P7-C (on the left):
Apparently, the light ended up stuffed in a bag with clothes, and was inadvertently switched on during packing. It's using a Nanjg 105c and runs on high at 2.8 amps, and I have the head packed with aluminum foil and thermal paste. As most of us are aware, this is certainly at the absolute limit of "acceptable" for this tiny host, if not more-than. Especially when stuffed in a bag surrounded by clothes and left on high.
I'm quite happy that this thing didn't catastrophically melt down/explode/whoknowswhat, but it certainly did ruin the LED.
