Why is it when I come to the site I don’t see a yellow star showing me that a particular forum has new posts on some topics? Some topics do have a star but some of the time a post may have been made 5 mins before I got there but it doesn’t tell me.
Also, sometimes I can’t even get to the forum, I get a message saying site is off line or something like that. If I wait a few minutes, I can get in.

My best guess.
Flush the cache of your browser and see if that helps.
Your ISP may be caching it too - which they really shouldn’t be doing on database driven websites.
There isn’t a lot that can be done if it’s your ISP caching it - just moaning at them which they’ll ignore.
But might be worth a try.
Try logging in again. Sometimes after the site goes down what you described happens.
What are yellow stars?

Try banging your head against a wall a few times. If yo do it right, you should see lots of stars J)

Ok. Found them. No Texaspyro they weren't in the wall either. That just put a hole in the wall and an angry wife.
