UF-T20 to Mod with XP-G2 NW

I Just got a Uniquefire UF-T20, Its a zoomie XM-L Light and was really bright. I was thinking to Mod it with a NW XP-G2 with 1.4A driver, Do you think this will increase throw significantly?
Thanks

Yes, that will increase throw but the flood won't be as bright. If you want it purely for throw than an XRE would be best.

Did the driver die? It probably would only need a driver swap.

A word of caution:

I bought three UF-T20 from Manafont. They overdone the lubing on the “zooming thread” part of the head. This was the case on all three. When the light is on for over a couple minutes, it heats up and starts evaporating the lube and moisture will start to build up in the head. If its left on in this condition, it will start to heat up really bad, and start melting the white plastic. I had to open all three, clean out the lube, and just add a modest amount of lube on the zoom threading.

I have a collection of over a dozen zoomies, and this one is tied for first place. Its flood is amazingly bright, but I dont like the twist zoom.

Wow, Thanks a lot for the advise, so thats why there’s moisture when using in a minute.

I forgot to add. While you’re wiping the inside of the head after you remove it, let the flashlight sit with the light on. It will evaporate any excess lube that you cant get to… only now it will just evaporate into the air. I used a ball point BIC pen to open it. If you dont know how to open it, you’ll have to remove the thin bezel that sits right over the glass lens. It has four grooves to help you turn it.

One of the three I had melted the white plastic to a point that it was casting a deformed right when zoomed to a hot spot. It looked really odd. So I opened it up and just ran it with out the plastic. Light output may have changed slightly, but not really noticeable. The major difference is that there is no longer ringy artifacts at all.

What’s it tied with?

I Just did this and light it on with out the head and I could see smoke coming out of the front, its like the led is burning. As I look inside, the LED PCB seems not to directly mounted to the Pill but there looks to be a Thermal glue of sorts.
Any advise I could do as don’t want to just let the light die. Also the white plastic retaining ring seems to start melting when I removed it.

Sorry brother, I can only tell you what worked for me. I let it stay on for a a few minutes, and all three of mine were fine.

I wonder if the twist zoom is better at pulling the heat away then say a slide zoom (like the small sun c10)? Since it could be using the head to disperse heat also.
