CREE XM-L T6 1600Lm LED Zoomable Zoom Torch Flashlight 2 x18650 +Charger for $15.99

What do you guy think of this deal? Lots of stuff for $15.99.

The light can be had for $9.50 + charger $3.50 = $13. The batteries are worth nothing if you ask me.

I don’t know anything about the light, although I’m not sure an XM-L makes the most use of the zoom function tbh.

I don’t care for the batteries or charger. I see no point in scrimping on items like this. Crap batteries will always be shocking and they seriously aren’t worth buying. Same with chargers really.

If that’s 1600lm I’ll eat my own head

Thanks for the advice guys. I am still a noob in this game. I just thought that the light looked cool. If anyone can recommend a similar type light that might be better I am all ears.

I just bought a light identical to the one shown in your link but bronze and its the most well machined, solid feeling torch for that price range I have ever bought. The threads are all sweet and lubed. It has three constant modes meaning good flexibility of use. From 15 feet away from a wall in my house it has a 2 foot square image of the t6 led zoomed in and covers the whole wall when zoomed out. When zoomed out the pattern is still squareish in nature not round. Zooming in and out is also the smoothest I have had before.

All those generic batteries I have tried all die and have rubbish capacity so I get laptop batteries off ebay that have been bought by mistake and go very very cheap and contain sony and panasonic cells. This usually costs me between £1 to 0.50p per cell. Just make sure you take them apart in the garden incase you short one.

I only have had roughly 10 other torches around this price point and this is my first t6 but can tell you it is the best made of any of mine by three times.

This guy got it to me in the uk in two weeks and included gold alloy valve caps as a gift that matched the gold yellow parts all over my bike which was a nice little suprise.

doesnt show a lanyard but came with one installed

The torch itself is probably ok for the money, even more so if you can pick one up for $9 or so.

But I’d highly advise on better batteries and a quality charger.

Also watch many Chinese claims on performance and output, they tend to lie and mislead a lot!

I have no idea what this light is like, but I’d think a shrewd guess would be more like 300-400 lumens. This is still bright though.

just a few shots compared to my old very similar format from cree but its a Q5 not T6 with charged batteries! Just noticed the guy you linked in the first post first sells it for $8.99 on its own

My TF Z8 had a flicker and wasn’t very bright. Hated it. I’ve come to hate XM-L zoomis. You are getting not quite 500 lumens out the front (usually around 440). The aspheric doesn’t capture enough of the lumens given off by the dome of the XM-L.

And those batteries - utter crap - and the charger, well, it would work, but look at the big picture. You are not getting much of a light.

Then again, if you get it, it may be the last zoomie XM-L you get, or you may just have fun building a collection of cheapies. So you’d have something. It’s up to you. I sure wouldn’t.

It is EXTREMELY hard to find a decent zoomable XM-L light. To be any good at all they must be driven at over 2.0 Amps. They dont focus near as well as an XR-E, so even though they are potentially brighter, they aren’t as useful overall.

You can see from that last pic post that its only marginally brighter than the ANCIENT Q5 rev bin of the XR-E! That’s pathetic!

If you could find a nice XM-L U3 bin that was driven decently then the 800ish lumens it outputs would be enough that its flood mode would be SIGNIFICANTLY brighter than the 150ish lumens of the Q5.

Unfortunately, no decent quality company builds flood to throws due to patent issues or lack of market, so all you ever see are these crappy knockoffs that are poorly driven.

If you want a good flood to throw, consider shiningbeam.com’s specially modified Romisen lights, with decent rev bin XR-Es. Looking forward to them making some XP-E2 and XP-G2 variants.

So are you saying for around $9 delivered you should be moaning? Maybe I am easily pleased. I wanted the u2 but the prices just took a massive jump and I have no way of proving I am even getting a u2 led as it isnt marked is it?

Whats the cost differences of the above better suggestions? Get what you pay for isnt it. I was happy with what I paid due to the quality of build/feel compared to my really really bad really really cheap similar torches considering it was only a few dollars more.

If I had paid $20 I probably wouldnt be quite as happy with it.

For me it was great value for money at least and i wont cry if it comes off my mountain bike and bounces down the road lol

on med if a flick my hand past I can see twenty blurred versions of my fingers on low I can see ten clear versions of my fingers but nothing on full

I dont collect ((cheap) torches as such but people always comment how small and bright mine are so they get gifted out once I have had a play and keep the ones I like for general use.

I think i did a bad job of the first photos as I dont know how your supposed to do them but think the light from the left wall bounced over allot to the right making them look similar. its night and day in the garden so to speak lol . its just a nokia n8 12mp camera btw with flash off.

Thanks for all the feedback but I think that I will pass on this light. I like the way the body looks with the clip but it seems this is not the right package for me.
