Looking for a flashlight!

I am looking to purchase my first good quality/light output flashlight. I like the idea of a flood-to-throw flashlight but I have been reading that they aren’t all that great. So what I would like is both a flood and a throw flashlight for under $40 or just a flood-to-throw flashlight. I was thinking about getting this http://www.intl-outdoor.com/xintd-c8-v3-xml-u2-910lumens-flashlight-p-308.html but I don’t know what type of light it is ( flood or throw). I also would like the light color to be as white as possible so like a 1A I’m thinking?

I would really like to keep the price for a flashlight or 2 around $30-45. I would also need batteries too so suggestions on those also would be great!

The C8 is very throwy but still has useful spill for mid-range use.

Another popular standard is a Solarforce L2 or L2P with an XM-L module. This is good for close up as it’s floody and the modules can be exchanged. I’d say almost all your flashlight needs can be covered with a C8 and an L2 or L2P with a couple modules.

I was actually just looking at the Solarforce L2 and L2P and really liked the style on them. Does this this one come with everything i need to go?

Yes, that one would work. While the SolorForce hosts get rave reviews, the drop ins seem to be somewhat lacking. I have this host: http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=FB&s=2&id=485&sname=l2m&xpage=1&sh=1 with this Dropin: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-cree-t6-3mode-memory-led-dropin-module-42v-max-p-5178?rp=3611239 as recommended by Foy.

The total comes to a little less and I’ve been very happy with both host and drop in. This combination allows you to use 18650, 18350 CR123A or RCR123A but does not support AA. If you go with any P60 drop in, don’t forget to fill the space between the drop in and the head with either aluminum foil or shims cut from an aluminum can to help disipate the heat.

Just a reminder, the Manafont 3mode T6 drop in linked to above has an operating voltage of 4.2V max. Only use it with 18650.
